Proof you're not a broscientist

Whats the Second law of thermodynamics, and how does it apply to Fitness.
>If you google you're cheating, and don't know enough about fitness to give advice.
>HARD MODE
Explain its relation to both fitness and nutrition.

Heat is an energy and cannot be destroyed, it can only be shitposted.

Why should i care?

And fitness, and nutrition.

I hate nigger, and no matter how many you destroy, they keep getting created

>Heat is an energy and cannot be destroyed, it can only be shitposted.
I never thought about it like that.

positive entropy in closed systems.

It barely applies to fitness for the layman, because you are not a closed system.

I read that as "brocialist" because of your pic

Did you mean to say prove not proof?

It's the law of entropy.
Ex:
>you lift weight and your muscles contract
>when you put weight down they relax
>he fell for the meme of broscience

It doesn't really apply to fitness and nutrition too much. You can say that if you eat a lot you will gain a lot of weight and the inverse, but metabolic disorders disprove that theorem (lmaoo). The body isn't a closed system and it conserves energy by storing nutrients and fat, otherwise it would just shit everything out digested and you'd have a net-negative effect.

1000's club and physics major.

Wrong.

The efficiency of any mechanical/heat engine cannot be equal or greater than 100% work input/work output (Work as in energy)

This means you never gain more or exactly the same amount of mass on your body than the amount of mass you eat

In other words, CALORIES IN, CALORIES OUT

>Explain its relation to both fitness and nutrition.
The human body is not a closed system. A human with a closed system is called a corpse. You eat food to maintain a higher order of structure, and excrete food with a lower order of structure.
I'm not going to explain every enzyme and reaction coupling process your body uses to maintain a low order of entropy relative to the environment.

What kind of explanation were you even looking for? "shit it less nutritious than food"?

Hey bro, I'm a scientist, and it's correct.

In my garage here, you see this lamb-bor-gheenie? I earned it, with science. Go search for the song "blinded me with science" and prepare to have your mind shitposted.

The second law of thermodynamics is that losing weight is easy if you're not a fat food addicted fuck. The corollary is that bulking is hard and those who struggle with putting on weight are titans that deserve more respect.

dS/dt >= 0

>I'm not going to explain every enzyme and reaction coupling process your body uses to maintain a low order of entropy relative to the environment.

Not the guy you're responding to, but I do not think it matters which enzymes do what, entropy variation is a state function? I might be wrong, I didn't take much reflexion on what you said, maybe I don't quite understand what you want to say

Also, catalyzers only lower the activation energy, which translates into a larger gibbs free energy variation, so what's your point?

>that pic
Damn... the emotion. Fighting tooth and nail all the way from Moscow to Berlin.

Energy is always conserved. Energy can only change forms or come from mass.

It takes energy to create muscle or fat mass, as it is a less stable state for the atoms. That energy must come from food.

The point of this poorly written thread was to prove that the majority of the people on this board have no idea what they are talking about.
Apart from a few correct answers the majority of replies were "MASS CAN'T BE GAINED OR LOST, CALORIES IN AND OUT BRO"

> The second law of thermodynamics states that the total entropy of an isolated system always increases over time

Aka, pretty fucking irrelevant, and if you listen to people who tell you weight lost is simply calories in and out, you're doing your self a disservice and should do some more research.

Your body is extremely ordered, yet you are powered with chemical reactions. Chemical reactions that create bonds and structures (i.e. Higher degrees of order) need to be coupled to reactions that releases energy (i.e. breaking bonds to a lower degree of order) to be energetically favorable. For example, NADH --> NAD + H is coupled to ADP + Pi --> ATP to generate a proton gradient in oxidative phosphorylation.

Enzymes just lower activation energy, not the difference in energy potential, but they're still vital for facilitating most every reaction in your body.

Can one of you faggots explain to me where the 100+ lbs of ATP we go through a day comes from if I eat 3 lbs of food and maybe a couple pounds of water a day for cellular respiration? The carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen from the glucose go to carbon dioxide and water, we don't use inhaled nitrogen to my knowledge and get it from proteins within food, and phosphorus from food too.

Explain this gypsy magic.

>What is the second law of thermodynamics

Uhh excuse me? Are you implying that weight is directly related to the laws of thermodynamics? Are you some sort of fucking idiot? Are you dumb? I have a hereditary condition that literally stops me from losing weight on a consistent basis, so you're literally a fucking idiot. B-B-BUT THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS BEATING THE LAWS OF THERMODYNAMICS. I beg to differ, my entire family was big boned. Good luck in the future at your gym, I probably spend more time than you there and I'm still a healthy bulk. Get fucked kid, honestly you don't know fucking anything.

ATP hydrolysis yields an inorganic phosphate and ADP. Using the energy you get from food, your body phosphorylates the ADP back to ATP.

This tbqh senpai

Exactly. Eat whatever you want and love the way you look.

Also,
>100 lb of ATP
You don't say you need 2,500 gallons of blood to live, just because your heart pumps that in a day.

Entropy will occur in the course of spontaneous change in an isolated (&non ideal) system.

Guessing if you want to apply it to fitness and nutrition you can simply say everything turns to shit.

Things get in things get out. If you eat less than your TDEE you'll lose weight that's 100% sure.

Genetic is still a factor when it comes to where you'll lose your fat, so you may lose all the fat in your ass and none in your abs, thus still feeling fat.

Water weight also fluctuates quite a bit, meaning you could look less fat while still weighing as much.

ΔS >= 0

So you needed to create a thread in order to come to the conclusion that people on Veeky Forums are retarded?
Why even bother

>and if you listen to people who tell you weight lost is simply calories in and out, you're doing your self a disservice and should do some more research.
You're a fucking idiot.

If you are EATING LESS, you are receiving LESS energy to maintain your bodily functions. If you are fat, your body will convert the ORDERED fat into energy so you don't die.

The 2nd law is literally an explanation of how a fat person gets rid of fat.

Boredom

Why are you being an insufferable cunt?
I have a BS in Biochemistry. The question you asked is covered in gen chem 1. 90% of all college students don't have to take gen chem. Why would they know that?
Imagine how fucking gay it would be if a music student came in here and started asking who knows shit about music theory, and when no one gives him the answer worded EXACTLY how he wants it, he starts spouting the meme >le Veeky Forums is weetarded

Because he's some freshman fatass who thinks he can trick an anonymous Siberian shuffleboard forum into mixing up the thermodynamic laws, as if it would prove "calories in, calories out is nothing against muh genetics".

He's a moron who knows as much about chemistry as Jabba the Hut knows about distance running.

People are retarded, laws of thermodynamics only apply to closed systems, and we as living beings are recieving energy all the fucking time. Not sure where did that muh termoscience meme came from desu

It was more about proving that people should be less inclined to take things at face value/a fun and informative thread.
They aren't expected to know that, but this could clear things up?

God, a thread relating to science behind fitnes is bad, but we can have a million fucking threads on
>High test women
Or some other stupid shit.
God forbid I try post some interesting content that enable everyone to actually learn something.

Your the insufferable one in all aspects, and your music student analogy is completely irrelevant. This is a health and fitness board.
Someone posting a music theory question in /mu/ would be perfectly legit, and as such so is this.
Fuck off.

>God forbid I try post some interesting content
Except it wasn't interesting at all, and your conclusion was incorrect and retarded.

>>>/reddit/

>The second law of thermodynamics states that the total entropy of an isolated system always increases over time, Aka, pretty fucking irrelevant

>Someone posting a music theory question in /mu/ would be perfectly legit, and as such so is this.

someones mad

Hort? Is that you?
