How did the US set up so strangely similar to Western Europe’s actual ethnic representation? If you’re willing to count partial Spanish ancestry as Spanish diaspora, France is the only Western European country that never properly made a population footprint as big as they should have, which is kind of funny since they’re the ones largely responsible for creating the country.

Was this engineered, or was it just an odd coincidence?

The French didn't have that many settlers, people didn't really want to leave and they didn't give the best incentives to do so; why cross the ocean to live like a serf in freezing Quebec or swampy Louisiana when you could just do it at home? They ruled most of their territory through a shitton of native alliances and a thin elite of (often mixed-race) fur traders.

the us was mostly anglo-celtic with a dash of germanic in the midwest for most of its history. not really 'representative'

The bulk of Italians and Scandinavians that immigrated to the US did so before the 1900s. The only major immigration wave that you would really call “new” is the Hispanic one.

Disappointed that nobody has made the joke yet that there are plenty of French diaspora in the US, just look at all those maroon shaded counties.

Based Hispanics are going to take over the former Spanish Empire

There's far more Slavs in the US than there are Scandinavians.

Generally people settled in areas with familiar climates. Hence Scandinavians in Minnesota etc.

bad map desu

What the fuck is "American"? Are those where the 56%ers live?

>Was this engineered
Yes.

There were various hard quotas limits that prohibited certain country/religion from coming to America too. Mainly due to fear/racism/etc.

There were also various hardship non-english speaking europeans had to endure too.

Slavs have a hard time setting up any sort of homogeneous region in the US and ultimately just end up getting absorbed by Western European diaspora groups.

Most of them in high likelihood descended from original English immigrants, but have since lost track of their ancestry due to poor record-keeping and general poverty in the south.

You don’t actually unironically think that everyone in the US is a mix-mash of different ethnic groups that mirror the entire nation’s demographic statistics, right? Different ethnic groups in the US tend to voluntarily segregate themselves from each other, and genetic intermingling is most likely to happen among the most wealthy, while the middle and lower income Americans who make up a vast majority of the population generally stick to their own.

Scots-Irish. Not English.

The earliest settlers to self-apply "American" were the Scots-Irish.

I really meant to say Anglo, my mistake.

Americans. Euros who were isolated in the Appalachian mountains and had an ethnogenis. They have ties to the land, deep roots, music, folk traditions, ect.

Why were the Scots so beta they couldn’t hang on to their identity? The English and Irish still have pockets of homogeneity, but the Scots more or less just accepted a broad British or American identity. Not that I’m saying they should be like Italians with their mama mia heeey hooo watch yourself copernicus autism, but why couldn’t they be quietly aware of their ancestry?

>ton of German immigrants made it out to California
>get replaced by Mexicans
>only part of CA thats not majority Mexican is Northern CA and its all British

Doesn't the PNW also have a ton of Russians?

It's a map of largest ancestry groups, not majorities. While Anglos make up the largest single ancestry, depending on the number of ethnicities that could be as low as the single digits as a percentage.

They're some of the earliest settlers. They didn't just assimilate into Americans, they're the default Americans.

German-Americans and British-Americans much like actual Germans and British are the most likely to have ambitions of spreading all over, but the Germans tend to get repelled by the British in the US when they culturally collide, and so they just go back to their regional territory, while British-Americans stand their ground in the most societally volatile but exciting regions of the US.

When you look at the map, East Texas is clearly the most interesting battle ground of ethnic collision, and also one of the fastest changing exciting regions in the US.

>When your in that one county in southern cali not conquered by the mexican horde
Please save us

Save you from what? Boredom? California’s hay-day is over as the US’s most interesting cultural prevailing state. People have since begun to move to Texas, Florida, and other metropolitan regions in the south as the new land of American opportunity because real estate is much cheaper there and taxes are lower. Silicon Valley is yesterday’s news, Austin TX is the new hot girl in town for tech development.

>Save you from what? Boredom?
being beheaded

Seek sunlight, apply yourself, and get a clue. Move somewhere else if you don’t like where you live. Here you go:

Save up $200 and you can basically go anywhere in the US. Don’t like Mexicans? Move to someplace without Mexicans, it’s thats fucking simple.

And let them win? Way to be a bitch
