Annoying workout today. Had a very easy bench day lined up. Just a triple at 85%, another at 90% (which I just repped out for 9 last week), and a couple backoff sets of 5, and everything felt pretty hard.

Then I had this AMRAP up to 8.5 RPE that ended up being about a 9. This was 87.5% of the max I reached 11 WEEKS AGO. According to the relative intensity chart this means I should have been able to do a set of 4 with this weight 11 weeks ago, and that's all I got today. But then....

Whats supposed to do more worknfor sumo? Hamstrings or glutes. I can never get them both to work at the same time but i can single them out. Focusing glutes has not gotten me injured yet but it feels less comfy and i cant do a wide stance.

I did 2 more doubles at the same weight, plus a single at about 93%. I decided to load up 96.5% for a single because fuck me the first set was disappointing and it isn't even very slow or difficult. So basically I can't rely on anything over one rep to predict my top end strength, and that's really annoying.

Hey, one of my first times posting in plg. I'm mainly in /owg/, but I signed up for a small powerlifting meet with a couple other wl'er friends for fun for Sept. 17, so I've only got about two months to prepare.

I more or less had to restart from the bar in February and I've been making mostly - linear progress, so my question is what kind of peaking cycle should I be looking at?

I'm at a 335x3x5 back squat right now and it's still improving each week, I was hoping to peak and hit 4pl8.

I've heard a lot about candito six week for peaking, but I also literally haven't heard of anything else.

Full body compound movements are worthless for functional stuff like picking up and carrying heavy suitcases. It relies mostly on arm strength and despite the fact that I can lift several hundred kilos I can't even carry a 40 kilo suitcase with one hand.

General rule is do your last heavy deadlift 10 days out, last heavy squat 7 days out and last heavy bench 5 days out. You can start reducing volume 3-4 weeks out and keep intensity somewhat the same.
