I would go for the first one and use it as an accessory movement along with barbell rows as a power movement.
Chest supported rows are excellent for isolating the lats. Use a thumbless grip with versa gripps/straps and hold at the top of the movements for 2 seconds.

I use the plate-loaded machine for my first 3x10 for back.
At the end of pull training, I'll use the left machine for 3 to 5 sets of 10-16 reps.

I swing too much on one-arm rows and it's hard to keep my core tight when I want to do slow and controlled reps.
