Are cravings a meme?

According to multiple TDEE calculators, I should be around 2700 calories a day. The sticky and many other resources say you should be +-500 calories depending on bulking/cutting. But for the last 2 weeks I've been eating an average of 1700 calories a day and I feel great. I'm losing some weight and I just ignore junk food cravings and eat something healthy.

Is it possible I changed my outlook on food from pleasure, to resource? Or am I doomed for a terrible awakening where I black out for 3 weeks and wake up in a McDonald's dumpster?

I don't know. Are you?

It's all about the mind.
If you have the rebound effect mentality, thinking you need an instant gratification reward for what you did, then you are going to act on it.
You could be on strict diet for years and then gradually change your mentality until one day you eat McDonald's for a month, two, three and never come back.
You have to train your way of thinking as well, got to get those mind gains.

When you eat at a caloric deficit for any considerable time your levels of leptin drop

When this happens you become irritable, hungry, depressed.

Then you will crave foods rich in carbohydrates

Any other cravings are psychological or because of some deficiency

It's all psychological, if you have the right mindset then leptin does not drop.

So you're saying the larger the caloric deficit then the more intense the cravings for carbohydrates will be? Is this why they say try to eat within 500? Sorry I am new to this whole "nutrition" game.

Okay friend

I guess leptin is not directly linked to fat mass

>directly linked
>causality

>inb4 there is this study proving there is a causal link
>what is individual response

How much do you weigh, OP? The leaner you are the more miserable it is to cut, there just isn't that much energy on you to use.

6'2
268 lbs.

you are a big guy

Eating a lot of food is shit. Putting on some muscle is great, but it has to look good. bodybuilding is completely meme and all the people you see on youtube and in the sport are fucking steroid using people with who mental problems. Lift, eat light, look lean and good.

u u u u

Yeah, when you hit a lower bodyfat % the voices in your head going EAT FAGGOT get preddy loud. That's why binge eating is so common in bodybuilders/fitness models; chronic restriction, long-term disordered eating.

6'6 280 lbs

I eat 1600 cal a day and feel fine. I too feel food is a resource now, I tried to eat 4 potato chips last night and the taste of the first one disgusted me so much I almost gagged.

stay strong and just keep doing what you're doing bro.

Not exactly

The higher your deficit the worse you will feel

However when you get down to stuff like 1000 cal deficit other things start to go wrong (unless your obese)

Oh god where do you people even come from

leptin is quite literally made in fat cells and regulated (in the long term) by total fat mass

I could go on about sensitivity and set points, but honestly what would be the point

Well my bmi shows me as classified as obese. Do you think I should try to maintain a 1000 cal diet? Or is that too risky?

>inb4 I'm not your dietitian

>Oh god where do you people even come from
From your nightmares.

Anyway, hunger is a subjective experience, you can have really low levels of leptin and still be able to not feel hunger.

My problem is how busy I am.
My TDEE us about the same and I'm at 1800 calories a day. Pounds are just dropping off. It helps during the week when I'm at work or school.

But then the fucking weekends come. I drink 1000 calories worth of straight vodka and want mongolion bbq and shit. Fuck the weekend.

Food is a horrible addiction with multiple psychological and physiological undertones. I don't know which ones do you have, but yes its gonna get worse. Try to figure out what makes you overeat in the first place

Dude I ate at -1500 kcal deficit and had the willpower for 6 months to not indulge.

This is why us ex-fatties KNOW HAES is BS, we've been there.

Not as fat as Opie, but I get this too. If I skip dinner or go way below my target calories, I end up feeling great the next morning.

A personal 10/10 for me. But she is a TERRIBLE pornstar. Like she's really fucking bad

A craving is your bodies way of telling you you're not getting a needed micro/macronutrient or mineral.

If you're craving shit food it's probably a dopamine release associated with pleasurable thoughts or memories of that food or activity.
