It would be a better idea if you didn't do it. Unless you're prepared to gain a pound or more a week, 100% do not do this. If you're doing Smolov Jr for bench alone, it would still be a good idea to be in a large surplus and use a training max rather than a real max.

Also, I would recommend never squatting and benching in the same day. Your shoulder girdle will be under repetitive stress, so alternating days is advisable.

Since you seem knowledgeable on it, if I just ran it for bench how would I incorporate other lifts into the routine?

I did it with daily max squatting and one or two back offs MWF and deadlift singles Sat. Still can't wholeheartedly recommend it, it moved my bench up a bit but left me with some very cranky shoulders that stayed that way for a long time.

Low frequency, on the very conservative end of Prilepin's Chart.

Low reps per set, low intensityl, low volume.

Deadlift, singles only even. Squat, keep it conservative.

The point of Smolov Jr. is to bring up a lagging lift or to push one lift only. If you try to keep all your lifts a priority, you'll most likely get nowhere (depending on your experience and progression).

So I am reading Mike T's RTS manual and he talks about how you shouldnt incorporate fatigue percentages into RTS until you have been doing fatigue stops and RPE for 7-9 months already.

And yet he gives people a generalized intermediate template that uses repeats, fatigues %s, etc....

There are no wilks in the jungle.

Depends on how much volume you need to progress and how long it takes for you to recover.

TM for less volume and faster recovery
Sheiko for more volume and slower recovery

But personally, I'd just recommend going with Sheiko. Every workout feels good and you get strong just as fast if not faster.

How's progress going for you? I hit 8 reps @RPE(9) with 85% for the squat
and 8 reps @RPE(8.5) with 80% for the bench
today.

I was supposed to only do 2 and 3 reps for those, but I did one set with higher reps just to see how my progress is going.

Haven't tried TM but can vouch that Sheiko is comfy

I'm doing ILL and loving it. My strength is going up like never before.

I can do a lot of the tricking that Clarence does (come froma background of Taekwondo). The main reason he can do that at such a heavy weight is because he learnt when he was lighter and kept doing it as he got heavier (similar to jujimufu). It's very hard to learn that when heavy. Takes years of practise to get to that level.

All you need to back flip is the ability to tuck jump higher than your waist, technique and get over the fear.

prep 1 -> prep 2 -> comp

If you're not competing you can just do a skill test at the end of prep 1 or 2 and then start over. Or just do a mock meet and run the whole thing if you prefer.

Here's what you do, you try really hard. So hard you overfatigue yourself. And when your lifts are down all across the board from fatigue, you deload a bit, then do it again.

I had my first real deadlift today.
I've been working on it for a few weeks, slowly approaching my current cap because I wanted to work on form first, then gains.

I'm feeling muscles in my back and core I never thought I would feel.

Pendlay and Rogue barbells are alright. Definitely good enough for the purpose of powerlifting.

Hahahaha I had a meniscus tear in my knee. After it I could do deadlifts for a while which I did to speed up recovery but could not squat. Then when I picked up squatting again my hamstrings were sore as shit. On the deadlift you don't really need to control the weight down with your hamstrings and control it until parallel but with squat you do. So I had to build up that aspect for my hamstrings to even squat properly haha.

Also my quads really declined in size compared to when I was squatting.

That is my one quad that actually did keep its gains.

I did not do much with my other leg. So I had one fit leg and one skinny leg that could be on a 80 year old. I had to address this imbalance as well.
