No, it'd make more sense and be more practical to do it the other way around if anything

>sense remove replace Latin equivalents?
Not really, especially since most of the basic words are of Germanic origin, plus the entire grammar.

Disgusting "words."

Why would you even consider that?

why can't we just scratch the whole language and replace it with some Celtic tongue?

Why not just speak French?
Why not just speak Dutch?

>why not just speak Dutch
good question, doubt anyone can give a reason for why not.

Nah. On occasion, writers will only use Germanic roots for common English words and it sounds way more rad than the latin ones. Check it out:

>a la
that's French you fucking brainlet

>Dutch
I think you mean Frisian

Used in English as well

No. It wouldn’t make sense to make any purposeful major changes to the English Language.

>Why would you even consider that?

G*rmanic, Fr*nch, are disgusting languages which should be wiped from the face of the earth.

The chart would be more 80% Germanic and 20% Latin/French if you don't count all the random scientific words that no one uses on a day to day basis.

>The English language got cucked by Norman Frenchies
English would be more mutually intelligible with its Germanic bros if you somehow manage to do it. The only way I can see this happening though would be with a strong rise of a Pan-Germanic identity among Anglos and their government

>count
>not rime
>germanic
>not thedish

>not witenshiplike

Edit: I read you comment as being in favor of removing Latin words lol.
Still, it would be very difficult to suddenly get everyone up in arms to purposefully change the language without it being favorable among the people and their government

Those words fall within the 20% ;)

English is Frenchified German.

It isn’t nearly as bad as that chart wants you to think. As long as you aren’t in law or the sciences most of your words are likely to be Germanic.

>Somebody took the time to take every word in the English language and dissect its origin
Either that graph is misleading or someone deserves the noble prize.

>History & whatever the fuck you want just call it humanities

no shit

ugly

>Why not just speak Dutch?
>dutch doesn't also have french loanwords

>Wenn du kein Holländisch sprichst ist das dein problem, nicht unsers. Danke dir!

>The English language got cucked by Norman Frenchies
It got cucked by the vikings before that, and was influenced by Latin before that, and was made by the mutt mixing of several dialects/similar languages to form Old English before that. The history of every language is one of cucking and mixing.

>a strong rise of a Pan-Germanic identity among Anglos and their government
Anglo's have a singular government? Also a sizeable amount of English speakers in the western world aren't Anglo's. Why would the Irish or Scottish want to get rid of the Romance influence?

Neither Twain nor a medical article a good representations. Why would you even look when you are check a comprehensive chart like pic related.

>As long as you aren’t in law or the sciences most of your words are likely to be Germanic
This really isn't the case. The Norman influence upon Old English was immense and changed words relating to everything.

Germanic isn't a language you mong.

Germanic isn't a language

>chart

I put the language getting cucked by Normans in half jokingly

>Anglo's have a singular government?
I left out that final s in governments by mistake

>Also a sizable amount of English speakers in the western world aren't Anglo's. Why would the Irish or Scottish want to get rid of the Romance influence?
That's why I mentioned only Anglos.
Immigrants, second language English speakers, and people who don't connect with English Germanic roots likely wouldn't care if English stays primarily Germanic. The millions of English speaking Indians, Pakistanis, Nigerians, etc. would see no reason to change the language in that way. The Irish and Highland Scots also seem more focused on preserving their Celtic languages of Irish Gaelic and Scottish Gaelic than to care about English.

In all, I believe no one will be removing Romance influences on English anytime soon in a substantial way since that's work into something no one really cares about at the moment. Maybe if we see a Pan-Germanic identity rise up among Anglos it could happen. For now, the language will continue to develop naturally and adopt new words for new concepts for years to come, maybe from foreign sources or formed from mixing around our current vocabulary.

>Maybe if we see a Pan-Germanic identity rise up among Anglos it could happen.
Not even then, because at that point anglos would just be speaking a language that's not english, while everyone else keeps using english. Anglos being a risible percentage of english speakers pretty much guarantees that any artificial germanization attempt of english would have no more success than klingon.

Very true, the globalization of English has largely crushed the chances of such a language reform.

Your comprehensive chart doesn't tell us if people actually use all those words often though
