A logical extension of these premises, if you're an extremist, then becomes "our race should use its strength to eradicate the nearby raves threatening it before they can do the same to us." After all, if you're the smartest, cleanest, and most civilized race, why wouldn't you want to ensure the world has more of you and less of the barbarous Eastern/Mongoloid people to the east? And why wouldn't you want to protect yourself from other racial hiveminds, as of course individuality is a primarily Nordic/Germanic feature?
To an extent I think it also has to do with the fact that Hitler and most of his inner circle was middle class. I guess it kind of applies, but even genetics itself isn't a good way to measure people considering that there are a myriad of variables recessive traits that go into applying genetics to a single individual, and also that we're on the verge of groundbreaking research for genetics with CRISPR, so my hypothesis would be that soon genes will become so easily manipulated in fetuses that a nation could practically implant all desirable traits into one baby and that skin color would be no more as important as hair color. Nazism was an ideology born from beer hall fights and street battles with Communists and the mentality formed from those experiences stayed with their leaders who acted without restraint or consideration of how it affected their perception abroad. American democracy was born from the minds of respected businessmen, lawyers, merchants, and soldiers and stressed moderation and compromise. British leadership was similarly born out of centuries of the tradition of an "enlightened" monarch who ruled over his subjects fairly.
Now FDR, Truman, and Churchill all did their share of immoral things during the war, but the idea of intentionally murdering massive numbers of people for no reason other than the sake of the act with no strategic advantage gained from it was inconceivable to them. Hence why they did not take reports of the Holocaust seriously until the first concentration camps were liberated.
tl:dr Those who deem the indiscriminate extermination of entire ethnic groups, down to babushka-clad grandmothers and schoolgirl in attics, necessary for national security do not make for disciplined, principled or rational leaders.
The very fact they entertain such notions begin with shows they do not possess the mental faculty to be fair, impartial, and just rulers. You're expecting far too much of them.
