It's mostly because once considered basic milestones in life are becoming more and more harder to achieve.
I am a 28 year old still living at home with my parents. Why? Because I'm a Manlet, have no social status and have never been able to attract a female. Why would I bother doing anything other than selfish things in life? Now I was lucky enough in the fact my parents are wealthy enough to support me for life. You win some you lose some, but the socially normal progress of life had been taken away from me by society's ever rapid evolving standards. Their wave feminism has a lot to do with it. Guys like me just go ignored because women don't need to settle anymore and can just monkey branch from the highest social status males without worrying about being dumped because they can always just fall back on another guy, and once they lose their ability to get Chad they can just get a job and support themselves or get the state to take care of them.
Guys like me (average face, short, no very social) are fucked in this day and age. I'd have probably An Hero'd years ago if my parents weren't wealthy, because there's no chance in hell I'd bother even trying to compete in this world from the bottom with the cards I've been given.
