Well I've never been to a Northlane concert so I can't say anything about their live performances but judging from live videos online they seem fine most of the time. Maybe you saw them at the end of the tour. Most bands become really sloppy from exhaustion when they tour a lot.
Anyway they sound completely different now and I sometimes think they should just change their name lol. Its impossible to claim if they are better or worse now, they are just so different you can't even compare.
