Anyone have good tips for leaving membership contract early?
I quit my other gym because the receptionist kept asking how my day was, how uni was etc and it got too nerve wrecking. Scoped out new gym that had self-entry, however the machine is under maintenance and the new receptionist is starting to ask me questions too. If I knew that there would be a receptionist I wouldn't have signed. I would like to ask for my money back, but need to plan what I am going to say (and need a good reason).

>not just walking into your 24 hour gym after opening the door with your FOB, and casually walking to begin your routine without talking to anyone
Daniel White
That's what I want. I just need to get out of my current contract (I down paid 24 months so I wouldn't have to talk to the manager for a while).

>how was your day? "fine." >how's uni? "fine."
if you can't squeeze out one word on your way in, counseling would be a much better investment than gym membership.

It's not that I can't respnd, it's that knowing that I do so makes me incredibly anxious and wound up and ruins my gym session.
I don't go there to socialize. I just want to work out. I shouldn't have to answer questions.

Knowing that I have to do so*

>I don't go there to socialize. man, I don't know what to tell you. with that mentality you may as well never leave the house. no matter what, someone is going to talk to you sooner or later. it's a matter of when, not if. I wasn't joking about counseling. life would be daunting if a chat could actually ruin my day. how have you not worked that out yet, how old are you?

Are you fuckers this anti-social?

22 and I'm doing fine so far. I can communicate perfectly through written correspondence, just not orally. My employers are ok with it, they just set me tasks through email or slack, and my grades are ok at uni (although I get a low mark for class participation).
I just don't understand why answering questions should be a requisite for entering the gym.

Wew lad I thought I was autistic If this is bait well done sir
Hudson Clark
I believe so, although I haven't been diagnosed by a specialists. I'm the same guy who doesn't like to eat without keeping food groups separate, sitting at the same lunch spot and eating at the same time.
From what I have researched, those are indicative - but not confirmative - of HFA. But everyone says they have HFA so I too could be wrongly self-diagnosing.

It's not bait, but I'm not as socially inept as this post represents me to be. Aside from a few quirks and inconveniences, I'm mostly a normal functioning person.

mate not being able to talk to people isnt normal

Why don't you send a mail or give a written message in an envelope that you feel uncomfortable if strangers talk to you? I'm sure the receptionist would comply and simply not talk to you anymore.
Samuel Roberts
If he does this, odds are ownership would just realize that OP is a basketcase and not worth the hassle.
After that, you should probably just join the homegym masterrace
Carson Powell
>being this autistic

Not worth what hassle? Not talking to someone is not hassle

Gr8 b8 m8.. I r8 8/8. I wil still bite, though. Why don't you just learn how to deal with it? Just say "fine. I hope your day/studies/shift will be, too". After doing it at least five times the receptionist will realize that you are giving him the same answer all the time, because you don't want to waste your time on smalltalk and stop doing it.
