Welcome to /plg/ - powerlifting general. Primarily for the purpose of becoming a better athlete on the platform, but all forms of strength training accepted!
Post progress, PR's, meet videos, schmexy lifts or anything strength training related.
Posted last general but not many were up. Could I please get a form check? Sorry about the shit equipment but the main thing I'd like feedback on is how my timing is, i.e. knee/hip lockout.
Reposting from last thread as almost at bump limit;
>All these trips using this as their personal blog like we fucking care about their lives.
More importantly, I recently switched over to sumo stance on deadlifts as I find it almost impossible to bring my hips down to knee level, is there some solid info on the pros/cons of adopting sumo style over conventional? It feels more balanced but I worry if I'm taking too much out of my lower back and utilising my legs too much instead.
Josiah Cox
>nobody has died deadlifting Jon Pall would like a word
Christopher Rodriguez
Do both
Jacob Hughes
Deadlift twice per week, train conventional one day and sumo the other.
Justin Jackson
Why are you worried about getting your hips to knee level on a conventional deadlift?
Gabriel Hernandez
>All these trips using this as their personal blog like we fucking care about their lives.
>All these trips >All
Nigga like 2 or 3 trips post their daily workouts. The only time I'll ever post what I'm doing is in response to a WAWTT
Landon Powell
>are you training for competition? Measure your body proportions and after you have got gud at conventional either stay with it or switch to sumo if it better suits you bio-mechanically. >Are you training for general strength? Do both but do conventional more.
Isaiah Cooper
Sorry let me rephrase. Nobody has ever died deadlifting because they were deadlifting. People have died bench pressing because they failed and the weight crushed them/killed them.
"He was deadlifting in his gym, the Gym 80 in Iceland when the cardiac arrest occurred, caused, it is thought, by a traumatic aortic rupture which was related to a weakened heart, a problem that was known to exist in his family."
The same thing would of happened if he was squatting a lot or benching a lot or some other very strenuous activity on the heart.
Jackson Reed
Powerlifters, we eat big, sleep big and lift big. AFter being in competitive powerlifting for a while one will make an assessment of your own physical body.
Meaning if you are under 6 foot, you will probably have to get to 242lbs, which is a lot of weight for someone 5Ƌ".
If you are over 6 foot, you had better be 300+ to be competetive with those leverages.
Caleb Baker
>mfw 5'10" which is ideal for twink class powerlifting
Cameron Evans
The fact that it could kill me only makes it better But squats can kill you, and are a lot worse for your spinal health. No world record holding squatter doesn't have a spine issue.
Liam Adams
Huh, bro I have bad news for you...
Camden Perez
John Haack is 5'9".
Sorry user, looks like you have to be 105 minimum.
Noah Bailey
>squat can kill you >can Yet no one has died yet
Oliver Bell
You're overestimating by a fair bit. Even most juiced 6'+ guys aren't competing in the 308s.
Easton Moore
Except they have.
Henry Torres
If Haack is 5'9" I'm 5'9"
Kayden Garcia
link?

I wouldn't know where to find one. If been to competitions were people have wound up wheel chair bound and one person even dead when equipped squatting. Most of these occourances happened in the 80/90s when equipped was just standard powerlifting.
When googling people dying from bench one result comes up
That isn't the roll video, can't find it atm, but subscribe anyways :)
> he did a whole year on 531 back in the day and got very decent stats doing it :)
Chase White
I do rack pulls aswell once same day, but yeah I'll mix it up, cheers.
What I meant is that I find it difficult to bend my knees past a certain point
I'm training for strength, trying to get my 130kg diddly up to 160+ Before december
Logan Richardson
Is it normal for your lower back to feel fatigued >2 days after deadlifting? No pain but it feels tight.
Also, when training with an inflated max. Do you do your one rep max attempts/skills tests with your actual one rep max? or your inflated max?
Jack Roberts
This video has made me realise how pathetic my deadlift form is, I was bending my knees to the point where my waist was parallel with my knees, then keeping my back pointing upwards and my head pointed upwards, lifting with my legs without moving my back until my legs are fully extended, then straightening my back up vertically, looks like I've been putting too much pressure on my legs and not actually using my waist/lower back to do the lift, motherfucking youtubers and their over-complicated fucking tutorial vids.
Camden Young
It is normal. Eat more and get a lacrosse ball. As far as the skills test, use your real 1rm, and set a PR if you think you can. You are allowed to increase your maxes if you set a new PR, but don't increase them during the competition block.
Owen Cook
>and get a lacrosse ball Anyone know some australian alternatives?
Liam Adams
>eat like 500-800 calories a day >get weaker >wonder why I'm weaker
Why do I do this to myself
Aaron Turner
Benefits of a controlled down movement is that you get the training effect of the down movement. For example, if you do 5*3 deadlifts on a certain weight and it feels really easy you can control the decent to get more training effect from that session without increasing the volume or the weight(kind of like adding long pauses in the bench).
If you just let the bar fall you can save energy and possibly do more reps or more sets(or save yourself for other lifts like the squat). You also don't have to lower the bar slowly at a meet(Kbooey excepted).
Jace Parker
Top 3 lifts I enjoy doing: >Bench press >Front squats in flats >no third
Alexander Walker
A cricket ball
Ethan Hill
oh yeah ofc
Leo Allen
>Deficit deadlifts >Highbar >Bench Only correct answer.
Dylan Gray
>Enjoying doing deficit deadlifts
The absolute madman.
Logan Hughes
I don't do them often so I always get a nice PR whenever I try them. Also for some reason I feel that I can get a much tighter back and hips when I pull from a small deficit
Isaac Rodriguez
I know what you mean, my conventional feels significantly more comfy when I pull in heels as opposed to flats.
Adam Hughes
Anybody here just not lift on weekends? Thinking about changing to weekdays only
Nathaniel Price
looks good senpai nice medieval workout i dig it
Easton Nguyen
Standing calf raises Rack pulls Leg press
Luis Murphy
me, I lift on the standard m/w/f no problems
I go running on sundays and rest days though, taking saturdays off.
Adam James
>Top 3 lifts
Front squat Ohp Snatch grip deadlift
Oliver Thompson
>Snatch grip deadlift What does he mean by this?
Aiden Phillips
>hips hurting from sumo this week and the last >today is the day I test my squat >hit PR of 475 >watch video >questionable depth
I'm just gonna chalk it up to my hips bothering me with my normal stance and once I went deep enough and do better (squat lower and hit a higher number) next month.
Henry Torres
post video?
Christian Rogers
>Anyone know some australian alternatives? Koala hunting sphere.
Eli White
I'll get to it sometime tomorrow. Still at the gym and won't have time to do anything with it until at least tomorrow evening.
David Cox
>incline ohp >training squat 20rm >skullcrusher sets to failure
^^ objective most fun you can have in the gym, period.
Angel Campbell
>sheiko says to do feet elevated weighted pushups >do weighted dippers instead Who else D E V I L I S H?
Carson Evans
Squat OHP Weighted Chins/Pulls/Muscle Ups
Jackson Green
Hold outside the rings (straps if you need to) and deadlift.
Great for upper back, and is basically a deficit.
Gavin Diaz
C&J Bench Rows
Jose Walker
Hey, know any good bench specialisation programs for a cripple?
Grayson Carter
rubber handballs, squash ball, tennis ball (you can take the "hair" off)
Adam Martin
>bench specialisation programs Just cube-predator. But if you're bench only, you might want to add another easy day, because it's 2x per week.
Gabriel Hall
Cool thanks, I'll check it out. I am bench only. Pretty much all I can do is bench and front squat, but I happen to enjoy them both so it's all good.
2 days a week is actually pretty decent for my now awful schedule. So thanks again.
Jacob Brown
Candito bench program
Brody Perry
Always feel like an aspie doing these.
I squash all of those with my heavy ass twink ass
Has anyone ever done this? I've literally never heard of anyone ever doing it.
I mean, why would you do a bench program by a guy with the shittest bench in the ipf?
Owen Walker
You're welcome. It is a little bit meme tier, but it has a lot of body building built in like a good bench program should. Garrett Blevins had a lot of good things to say about it when he was running it a couple years ago if you want to look up his YouTube videos. There should be a spreadsheet out there somewhere that Garrett made that you can download.
Connor Ramirez
>Has anyone ever done this? I've literally never heard of anyone ever doing it. I did it and my bench went from 90kg to 115k within a month.
Daniel Long
>I mean, why would you do a bench program by a guy with the shittest bench in the ipf? I didn't know George Seeger made a bench program?
Henry Thomas
>Implying that title doesn't belong to me
Tyler Perez
>in the ipf
Luke Scott
>my bench went from 90kg to 115k within a month. >program is 6 weeks long >pic related
Does anyone else picture themselves walking up to the bench platform at IPF worlds with only 2 little red plates up?
cus i do
everytime i bench
god please kill me now my bench is so bad
Hudson Jones
>god please kill me now my bench is so bad Your deadlift also sucks
Ryan Butler
Gabem has done the roll of shame with like 385. He baleeted a bunch of stuff, so I don't think you can find it.
Easton Sanders
>USAPL isn't IPF
There's literally video if me doing that.
Evan Lewis
According to symmetric strength my bench is worse
Tbh, it should be higher but I think an equal squat/deadlift isn't that bad. You guys just like to bully me for it
Nolan Diaz
>program is 6 weeks long It was this last summer, I had to max out first day of week 5 because I was going on vacation for a week and couldn't continue with it. Besides that, great gains.
Colton Allen
Thanks again, I appreciate it. As a token of gratitude; here's a show you may not have heard of but might be right up your ally m.youtube.com/watch?v=SUWP-YeVong
Watched every episode when I was food poisoned for an entire week last year
Carter Brown
Looks like the Seeger is ranked dead last for the 105s in the british classic this year.
Leo Watson
>USAPL isn't IPF Yes? You can only compete in the IPF in international competitions.
Gavin Hernandez
You could always just buy a lacrosse ball. Like $10-20 free postage on ebay
Bentley Russell
anyone want a pic of panzer wearing tights
he sent me it against my will
Colton Lewis
Higher than I remember, what a hoss.
He is the most consistently sensible and strong lifter rust I've seen...Ever.
Kayden Morris
yes please
Cameron Reed
10-20$
I'm not made of money brah. I have to buy a new tire tomorrow because I was too lazy to do a 3 point turn so I mounted the curb and blew up my front right. baka
Blake Reyes
I wouldn't have survived all the vomiting haven't I just discovered the show. Make my week lol.
