This. Politics are volatile but the amount willing to get out and do something about it is tiny.

At most we might continue to have escalating urban terrorists and mass shooters, maybe some organized resistant movements or riots, but the truth is the vast, VAST majority of US citizens are not dedicated to their causes so much that they'll sacrifice their comfy first world lives.

As for the problem of lack of protest, like I said Americans ultimately lead very cushy lives. Even the lowest class live relatively comfortable lives. Additionally the country's labor force is completely controlled by corporations and unions, both tend to be corrupt and not have the worker's interest in mind.

Whether by design or not, in the US the relationship between consumers and producers, and citizens to authority, is balanced almost perfectly so that people have neither the will nor the ability to try and not comply with the system. This is why there are so many conspiracy theories about the gubmint putting mind control drugs in the water or evil corporations brainwashing people with advertising, the system so perfectly keeps people in line and spending money while a small percentage get ludicrously wealthy that some people think it's TOO perfect to be the natural evolution.

I think that this often boils down to what I'm talking about, ergo the only reason rural and suburban retard disagree with the liberal consensus is because they're insecure about being poor, they're insecure about losing their jobs to immigrants, they didn't have the social wealth to get a proper education, etcetera. Inversely liberal urbanite wealth is a reflection of / reward which follows from their having the right sort of opinions, a reflection of their being "better networkers" / "able to thrive in a more socially connected and conscious workplace" ("I'm cooler than you" in as many words), more educated, on the right side of history, and so on.
