Got an advance copy of Arnold’s new autobiography (it’s called Total Recall, no shill). This photo is in there, and he actually gives a little insight into what was going on there. I can’t quote it directly here because of the 500-word copyright limit on advance material, but I can give y’all the gist of it. Obviously he was inclining two plates, suicide grip as usual, but the kicker is that Arnold actually had food poisoning in this photo. Kind of mind-blowing to think about, considering the toll that sort of thing takes on your body. Dehydration, weakness, nausea, and then the sleeplessness on top of all that. Anyway, he couldn’t sleep the night before, but he knew he had this showcase the next morning, and it was important to his career (and to his psyche, as he’s really competitive and, he admits, vain about these sorts of things) because he was on a major press tour of the west coast when he was first working on crossing over into acting, so he was kind of panicking. He finally rolled out of bed like 10 minutes before he was scheduled to show up, got there just in time, and then pumped some iron out there in the Southern California sunlight like a beautiful alien god. Didn’t even eat breakfast. He says all it took was TFS and he was ready to go.
Here’s the backstory on this photo
Total recall has been out for years mate.

Most pro athletes compete while being injured and also being sick, as long as the illness doesnt hurt their playing level too much.
