>TFW in Canada and my shoulder really hurts for the last few months and my family doctor just gives meme advice like "go to a physiotherapist" instead of giving me an mri and sending me to an orthopedic surgeon who can actually help

Wtf

At this rate I can't lift soon, my shit hurts tremendously and doesn't seem to be going away

help

Sounds like you've got a chip on your shoulder

Go to a different doctor then fuckwit.

another gp?

It's not that fucking easy fag

tell me where and how your shoulder hurts. location, sensation, what makes it worse, what makes it better, does it radiate anywhere?

when I hurt my shoulder, I just asked my gp for a referral for mri. She also gave me a referal for xray, and ultrasound. Probably over kill, but you get stuff if you ask.

thats a hard weight to shoulder

get a load of this guy

> location,
Front of shoulder
>sensation,
Kind of dull aching pain, really annoying and moderate
>what makes it worse,
Moving it around seems to make it worse, but it's delayed pain
>what makes it better,
Nothing
>does it radiate anywhere?
No

I have FULL ROM, FULL STRENGTH but rlly annoying pain.

Really? Mine just said see a physio and that a specialist besides physio wont help (lol wat)

Seems kinda negligent honestly.

Can I try a walkin clinic for this you think

cancer. sorry

do this: youtube.com/watch?v=QLNCZrDLyiY
and this: youtu.be/XlvY3TRrL-Q?t=132

may be AC joint impingement and some inflammation.

any traumatic cause possible?

congrats on your SLAP lesion.

the good news which is also the bad news is that surgery is likely to do more bad than good so better get used to being fashionably suffering at the gym

Not sure

I think over the years?

It's been like this for a few months.

I've tried everything. Cable external rotations before lifting, "shoulder dislocations" with a band, giving it 2 weeks rest, everything.

Ill do the links you provided.

O-oh

Am I fucked?

I just train with a bung shoulder.

And like do exercises that dont hurt it

And every 6 months it goes away for 2 months

>Canadian Healthcare

Could be a minor strain (either acute, or postural chronic) to the delts, supraspinatus, long head of biceps, transverse ligament.

Minor SLAP lesion.

Possibly tendinitis, or tendinosis.

Maybe an AC joint impingement.

Could try a walk-in. They're slow, but you should get a referral. Be prepared though.. we're entering flu and cold season again thanks to all the kiddies.

Honestly though im just scared because it feels severe

It's been going on 4-5 months, getting quite worried especially since my family doctor just kind of waves me off...

Guess ill try walkin, not sure if they refer to specialists for this stuff though

It may be in your best interest to start looking for a new doctor. I switched mine because he stopped giving a shit.

Raise arm above head, touch same shoulder and keep elbow up. Stretch deltoid.

Grab door frame with extended arm, twist chest AWAY from arm until pectoral stretches.

Grab door frame with extended arm, twist chest TOWARD arm and bow your body. Stretch shoulder, then twist and bow more to get lat, then twist once more to get obliques (you will be "on your side" at this point.

Also, eat more, faggot. If you dont eat enough it will cause fatigue to your muscles (and not repair enough). One side may be overworked while the other will then be overworking (causing lack of blood flow and aches).

>He doesn't play Junior and just go to the team doctor

Shit is cash I have never had to a wait and he can refer me to any specialist

>le epic rebbit pun thread XD

Honestly considering it.

Just really sloppy-feeling work overall. The doctor is nice but the secretary is subpar and sometimes it feels negligent.

What am I suppose to feel with this

Also I'm cutting

I'm in canada and yes it is you moronic jizzsack

walk into ANY CLINIC and they will take you. Tell them what you think is wrong and your symptoms.

Or maybe TRY ASKING FOR A REFERRAL? Nobody would deny you a referral, it costs them nothing.

>public """healthcare"""

>Go to walkin clinic
>They don't even speak English

Lol... if they wouldn't my family doctor refer me then

>both shoulders have been hurting pretty bad for months
>just keep liftan
>shoulders now 100% again
Feelsgood

It stretches the areas I find commonly associated with where you feel pain. Many times, you may feel an ache because of poor blood circulation. If you have a tight neck, your shoulder may ache. If you have a tight pec, your hands may ache. These are simple examples.

The cause of said poor circulation is usually muscle fatigue and imbalances (which is caused by malnutrition, weakness or just general tightness).

Allowing blood to reenter the area helps with healing. Oxygen is essential to said healing so breathe deep and easy (and force yourself to relax through the tenseness).

Consider daily stretches (neck, pecs, delts, biceps, and lats) to help blood to flow.

Also, you may need to change your diet so that you consume more carbs/fat (play with it).

Additionally, to stretch your bicep, extend your arm and place your palm on the wall. Rotate your hand so that your fingers turn away from your body (clockwise for right hand, counterclockwise for left). Then twist your chest until you feel a stretch.

True.

Those links seem legit too, I'm gonna try them tonight at the gym

If you have trouble visualizing, you're free to google it.

What is the query/term? It'd help

For stretches, " stretch" and maybe a "+wall" if its relevant.

For understanding on healing, source of aches, imbalance and muscles fatigue, your somewhat SOL. These all come from experience with my own body as well as bits and pieces of information I've gathered over 4 years of lifting.

Some bits of information that I've used to induce a conclusion on these subjects are to follow.

Remember bro if your rear delt is hurting it might affect your front delt because both rhyme with pelt.

To diagnose, do a back stretch because rear = back, this is elementary.

First, you wanna put 10 plates on the bar and then put the bar on the floor. Then grab it, preferrably with straps otherwise you might injure your only important muscle: the bicep. Then just round your back to stretch it and pull as hard as you can, once you feel a sharp pain and hear a popping sound you've completed the stretch. If your shoulder still hurts then it's fucked. That's how my bro's uncle died.

Thanks bro good advice

doh ho ho ho

drfag here. MRI wont do shit, the radiologist report will say "cannot rule out possible tear of _____ muscle, clinical correlation required"

and then doctor will recommend you the same physio and exercises and congratulate you on your 12 month wait for the useless MRI

and also surgery wont do shit, no surgeon is going to operate on your partial tear of ______ rotator cuff muscle

Aches:

I've suffered from chronic knee aches and shoulder aches on my left side and right side respectively. When I overcame the form issue on my lifts, the pain was less serious but still there. I've had low body fat my entire life so the most difficult part of progressing is eating enough consistently. I have learned (repeatedly) that when I stopped eating a proper amount in a series of days (sometimes nothing in one day) while lifting 3 times a week, I suffered from these aches.

Food has been the cure 90% of the time - that is no joke. Consistently being inconsistent has taught me that.

The other 10% comes from stretching. This 10% of the time I'd say is 80% my shoulder aching. The cause of that is muscle imbalance without a doubt. When I was younger I spent too many hours sitting at a desk with poor posture (reaching forward with my right arm). I remember one day I bent over to pick up a pencil on the ground, over-extended my arm downward, and felt a stabbing pain in my shoulder (rhomboid). The issue: poor flexibility in the pectoral muscles causing uneven tension on the shoulder and overworking the rhomboid (thank you chiropractor).

Now think of a headache: caused primarily by poor circulation (typically of the neck or spine). Other causes, like stress, are secondary - I find that stress will cause tension in the body (which in-turn causes poor circulation). When you bring your chin to your sternum and curl the spine, you stretch both neck and spine and it brings relief. The issue isn't your head but your neck and spine.

Wat?

A doctor will certainly operate on a slap tear or bankart lesion

This. Don't know what you're expecting OP. Go to the physiotherapist like was recommended, and they'll actually help you out. Avoid heavy lifting, and do their stretches and shit.

>Going to orthopedic surgeon

Nigga you don't even know what's wrong, and you've probably been fucking around. The physio will help figure out the problem, and if they think it's bad, they'll refer you to a specialist.

Also, dickheads like you who want an MRI for every little thing are the reason wait times are so long

Eat my ass nigga

Physiotherapy is a scam and doesn't help shit, none of them lift and they just scam you

(cont.)

I've been increasing my reps to increase tension on my muscles; I have seen this to improve the size of my muscles and thus helping me out of plateaus (mass moves mass) When I first incorporated this, I felt ridiculous aches in my legs and hands. To remedy these, I had to stretch my hip flexors (which fixed the leg aches) and my pecs (which fixed the hand aches. Ofcourse, I began massaging the areas to get relief, but the circulation was being cut elsewhere. Those areas had plenty of blood behind nothing behind the line was choking them out. This is more evidence to me about cause of aches and how to fix them.

From all of this, I've induced that muscle aches are caused by poor circulation of blood depriving part of the body of oxygen. Poor flexibility creates both tension and tension imbalances (the opposite muscle competing for stability). This impairs form which not only feeds into more imbalances of strength but also creates more opportunity to add stress to these joints.

As supporting evidence, here is a great video which talks about shoulder pain from benching and OHP (definitely worth a watch).

youtu.be/IKc6hwPvsHg?t=102

Please don't jump to the conclusion that you need surgery as it will (probably) only serve to empty your wallet and discourage you from lifting.

try seeing a doctor who specializes in sport medicine. im in edmonton and went to see A FIVE TIME STANLEY CUP WINNER AS WELL AS OLYMPIC HOCKEY PLAYER TURNED DOCTOR and they got me into the clinic right away, like 15 minutes after i called them. he had his assistant look at my knee for a few minutes then he walked in the room and said IT BAND SYNDROME and poked his finger right into where it hurt. he showed me a series of stretches to do, and it fucking cleared up after a few weeks of doing them.

you dont need an MRI, you need to go to a doctor who knows what hes talking about.

...

Hahahahahahahaha Canadas medical system BTFO.

USA here, I get injured, I go to the sports medicine clinic 10 from my house, the same day, pay 40$ and get treatment and at home rehab advice.

>poutine though

>pay 40$
>pay
kek

manage your physiotherapist!

listen to every word they say
google it and do your research
do every last bit of exercise/stretching they give you
complain if anything seems unrelated to injury
make them explain everything

which 5x sc winner went to med school after retiring? that's actually kinda cool if true

you're a fucking retard, going to an orthopedic surgeon will irreparably damage your shoulder and weaken your ability to make strength and aesthetic gains. good luck though, mr know it all.

Dumb ass LOL

How do I make sure my physiotherapist doesn't tell me bullshit that won't help me?

How do I ensure they actually look at my problem? How can I tell if they're a quack?

randy gregg. if you get a lifting injury and you're in edmonton i cant recommend him enough

he also runs marathons and hes 60, his kids are also olympic speedskaters. the guy knows the shit out of fit, if he cant help you then you're hopeless

Fuck id love to but I'm in on :(

wow he made the nhl from cis hockey??? that's incredible. or maybe the hockey developmental systems were really different then. nowadays i think cis hockey is just what junior players play for fun when they're done with junior and know they can't make the nhl and they wanna use their chl scholarships

Everytime I have gone to physio, they assess, which usually involves digging a thumb into whatever area hurts.
then moving the joint while digging the thumb.
so that they know they have the right spot.

They should then be able to tell you the muscles and tendons involved.

After they are done the first treatment, you should feel better. it wont last, but you will fell like they did something and it helped.

oops, meant to reply to your post not my own

Okay ill try

I was just worried they were quacks since there's so many of them in my area and they're DYEL and offer retarded shit like "Shockwavd therapy" and work in hand with chiropractors, just seemed like bs overall desu
You know?

yeah, understand that.
my physio's have been Triathlete, doing up to half irons
and a former olympic rower, she had cool stories.

The chiro in the same office raced dirt bikes, snowmobiles, also cool.

I have had the chiro put ribs back in place (from mountain biking), but never had him do anything else.

Keep looking until you find on that kinda matches you. Ask other weightlifters if they would recommend anyone.

HAHAHAHAHHA

HOWS SOCIALIST MEDACINE TREATING YOU

>hey Americans we have LE JUSTIN TRUDEAU

HAHAHAHAHAHA
Fucking Canadian passive agressive BITCH get FUCKING rekt

Ausfag here

What's it like bragging about being slightly less cucked than a country who elected a man that unironically hired 50% womyn because muh patriatchy?

I just can't find shit in my area man

I want one who's actually knowledgeable and understands lifting instead of a dyel sho just got his piece of paper to teach people external rotations

Anyone who knows anything about lifting will tell you that if your doctors clear you to lift then you should lift through the pain, and maybe give you some arbitrary stretched to try in case they help.

Whatever fag, it's just money. Money gains bitch.

>physiotherapy is a scam

>it actually has a certification society with professional standards
>that requires people to have 4 year accredited degree in kinesiology
>so that they know, say, human anatomy and biomechanics and stuff

the funny thing is that i have an aunt complain about this and my mom also complained about this.

"the physiotherapist just got me to do these stupid exercises picking up pennies off a table, this shit is useless!!!"

like shit sherlock anyone can tell anyone else to pick up marbles and pennies, but you need to be trained to look at someone and ask the right questions and move their limbs around and figure out what their problem is and what stupid exercise to help their under- (or sometimes over-) execised ass and regain rom and strength

please rail against MUH SCAMS more

Get FUCKING REEEEEEKT Canadian bitch

>oh you American hoser we have le justin Trudeau
>oh we pretend to be nice but are passive aggressive cunts

FUUUUUUUUCK YOOOOU

Chill dude I'm just saying what it looks like

Especially when they offer fucking acupuncture, shockwave therapy and work wirh chiro's. How does that not seem like a scam, for real?

You know what is a scam?

Cancucks pretending to be "nice"

I'm not pretending, I dont care about your strawmen
