There were many European kingdoms in Egypt, so Egyptians, mainly the Christian one are way more European than the muslim one, and definitely more European than the ancient Egyptian ones.
I know this is very disappointed, but we have more than enough evidence to know that ancient egyptians were not in fact European, nor Black, the nobility's skin color; brown for males, and dark olive for females, the nobility less brown than the lower classes (except maybe the priests) because they lived in the shade, they had curved potruding noses, a slightly sloping skull, high cheekbones, similiar to Cro-Magnids, resembling the other North Africans west to them more than the semites to the east, Ancient Egypt were just another type of North Africans, nothing special racially speaking.

North Africa, even before the creation of Egypt, was a host to thousands of tribes, in Tunisa, Algeria or Morocco, you can find two tribes, on near the coast and one near the range, both are 100% North African with little to no outsider admixture, one has fair skin, light brown hair, bigger stature, than the other, my point is it was never homogeneous in the first place, because it was very big to begin with, no tribe back them had enough people to populate a city the size of Memphis, ancient Egypt was never homogenous, because it was simply too big to be homogeneous.

Rome had varying citizenship laws throughout its entire history. non-Latins were not given citizenship or regarded as Roman until many hundreds of years after they were conquered. A Roman ethnicity existed in the form of Latin people. A Roman at the start of the republic would have a different identity to one at the end of the empire. The same can be applied to most civilisations.
