I've never understood why that is. I've been fat pretty much my hole life, but am extremely physically active due to my job. My Co worker convinced me to start working out with him, and I am now down 30lbs, and got another 40 to go until I hit my goal of 15% bodyfat at 230 pounds. The notion that I somehow was weak before but I will be strong because I am lean just defies logic. I'm as strong as I was before.

If you have a lot of muscle on your frame, your heart is already working over time. The last thing you want to fucking do is have a ton of fat on your fat fucking frame.

Contrary to popular believe having a moderate amount of bodyfat is exceedingly healthy for men and women.

I'm not talking about 20% for men and 30% for women.

I mean men in the 13-15% bodyfat range and women in the 19-25% bodyfat range tend to be far more healthy and able to survive heart attacks better then people of similar backgrounds with lower and higher levels of bodyfat.
