Historical Reenactment

So I have decided that I wouldn't mind trying to join some kind of Historical Reenactment group/society. Trouble is, I have no idea how to go about this. I was wondering if anyone knew of any organisations (I live in the UK) or had some tips for someone who wants to get involved in this.

A Google search should pull up a list. What era/culture are you looking at?

Is there a discord server for reenactors at all? I'm trying to find info on some equipment and i feel like that'd be a good place to ask.

Don’t dress FARBY

And stay away from the creepy SS teenagers

>stay away from creepy ss teenagers

Oh how true this is. I started doing SS at 17 because a group in my area does an impression of my great grandfathers unit, i learned pretty quick SS is one of the cancers of the ww2 reenacting community.

Done some googling, though not everywhere advertises if they are looking for volunteers. I'm not that fussed with regards to era, though I would preferably want to avoid Victorian.

I'll give them a look.

FARBY?

This is my authentic 19th century pith. Commonly used by British Colonial Troops in hot climates. It was not developed to deflect bullets and shrapnel, but rather to deflect sunlight, and protect from falling debris (to an extent)

Farby, using the wrong shit for an impression. An example being wearing an East German tunic while trying to do a Heer impression

“FAR BE it from authentic...”

They’re those cheap or just lazy bastards who don’t care about accuracy

Like a faggot wearing plate armor or wielding a katana during a reenactment of Clontarf

Wait, you’re saying people who want to larp as Nazis from the all volunteer war crimes divisions AREN’T fun to hang around with? What a shock that is.

Is that lipstick?

Wasn’t there a russian billionaire who spent his birthday re-enacting a Viking raid? They had a village set up near a river/lake with a bunch of folks and then the guests sailed over on longboats before “fighting” the locals, “pillaging” the place for real treasures, “raping” escorts dressed in authentic period nun clothing, and feasting before burning the remains of the place. Shit sounded pretty cash.

To be fair theres a good chunk of us who got into the SS shit just cause of family links or the badass uniforms, everyone else is a sperg. Even the guys who actually hold the views keep it to themselves usually and are alright in the hobby.

The sealed knot are great for English Civil Wat reenactments

I'm A part of that group

>tfw there are no antiquity/migration period reenactments anywhere near where I live
>tfw I'll never be a shirtless barbarian drinking absurd amounts of alcohol and shouting the names of my many gods at the top of my lungs before battle

normie history?

Not with that attitude!

Go to a reenactment event and inquire with one of the groups about joining. Avoid Wehrmacht and SS groups.

I unironically want to do this
