how much time will it take to train a martial art to take down untrained drunk assholes and their friends in bar when they try to hit your gf?

a few days.

is boxing good enough?

any style is "good enough" if you train it to a degree of reliability

if you're concerned about street fights it probably isn't a bad idea to try a grappling art so you can learn to take somone to the ground effectively

Its really really easy for some one to train 6 months of bjj to outgrapple a average guy.
1 and half and youll be able to outgrapple a strong guy.
2 years you should be able to outgrapple anyone who doesnt train.

How many?
One? 6 months to a year, unless he knows some shit
Two? A year if you are a good learner, probably closer to 3-5
Three? Maybe if they don't know shit you can establish and maintain a distance, but if you get tied up, and they know more than nothing, at least a decade.

That one ufc fighter got beaten with kids who had sticks..

..but then that one karateka (I think he was a k1 champ??) beat up like three or four dudes that one time..

I have trained MA my whole life and never really had a real fight (one scrap in hs, but the kid didn't know what he was doing, and I took it easy as fuck on him, so it wasn't really a fight)

It is a useless skill, but an enjoyable passion/hobby

Just avoid tae kwon do, Kung fu, aikido, and any other place that doesn't spar (most places only let intermediate/advanced trainees spar)

This a whole lot the only real legit martial arts the majority of the time are muay thai kick boxing boxing and bjj those work really live sparring is key

oh and judo is pretty good too

Depends how dedicated you are. Boxing is easy, you just have to be dedicated to it.

the single most practical way to fight is learning to grab and twist joints.

>easy to learn
>does not need regular and intensive training wich would be needed for a punching&blocking fighting style for instance
>anybody can do it and everybody is vulnerable to it
>is also legally very much in your favour because people that resist a grab damage themselfes

this is why worldwide every security and policeman use it

Literally baby tier aikido.
Police training a shit

Thoughts on Krav maga?

takes as long as it takes you to obtain a firearm (license optional) for some sweet gun-kata

fucking juri shitter

crap
take boxing + wrestling + bjj
or boxing + sambo

Muay Thai + Bjj is the best

muay thai and brazilian jiu-jitsu

One to three month if you have a personal trainer who's a martial arts master and they spend their entire day with you.

If you just take a normal martial arts class it will take 6 months minimum for you to learn basic technique and footwork.

How ugly is your girlfriend that guys try to hit her?

Is this really a common enough problem for you to have these thoughts?

If you meant they try to hit on her, why do you care?

There's no way I'm going to jail or risking injury to hold into a hoe that can't stay loyal. If she's loyal there isn't a reason to worry.

Man kids these days..

This. Get an intimidatingly good looking gf and the worst you'll have to deal with is stares, mirins and her dms being flooded with pajeet and other brown-spectrum lowlifes

less than a day. literally.

>find a boxer
>get him to teach you how to make a fist and throw a proper straight and a proper hook
>practice it on air, then on a heavy bag till you get it right
>spar with boxer, and then on the final round get him to beat the shit out of you, literally hit you until you are unable to fight back so you learn what pain and a proper adrenaline dump feels like

congrats, you are now trained to defend yourself and others.

self defense is easy.
just need to learn to throw a punch, take a punch and handle the adrenaline

>grappling in a street fight
Just no. You are 100% guaranteed some of the guy's friends will kick the shit out of you once you're on the ground
