I don't think it was the volume as such but the high volume high frequency of smolov and not allowing sufficient recovery i.e poor sleep and diet. I definitely feel "stronger" heavier weights though because of it if that makes sense.

My upper back rounding is the limiting thing in my deadlift right now.
I'm 6'7 and have always had slouched shoulders bad posture that I'm trying to fix now.
Is upper back rounding something to worry about? What exercises could I focus on to improve it specifically?

It probably isn't ideal, but it isn't generally considered risky the way lower back rounding is.

Front squats and SSB squats are usually the sort of thing people prescribe to fix the issue alongside rowing movements, but I find a good chunk of the time the issue is as much with positioning and bracing as it is with the upper back weakness.

It's probably both I think, it's improved since I learned to activate my lats and depress my scapulas but it's still happening.
I'm doing a fair bit of rowing movements, gym doesn't have an SSB but I might give front squats a go

I play rugby 2 times a week plus a match on the weekends. Since I'd like to have at least 2 days of rest that leaves me 2 days of training.

I know working out only 2 days is rather shit, but still better than not doing so. What routine could be best? I'm guessing full body both days but I'm unsure.

Useful for overload and feeling out heavier weights than usual. Can also make for a good alternate to regular downsets - instead of dropping the weight, throw on the bands.

Like most accommodating resistance setups, the trick is not to go too crazy. Its easy to get caught up in the idea and end with some retarded amount of weight at the top that has zero effect except beating the shit out of your upper back.

I have done them with decent bands. Got to 120% of my 1RM for 8 reps. Makes things very comfortable at the bottom. Takes alot of stress off my hips. Also good to overload my walk out

I go down into the hole fine than burst out only to stop on the way up a bit above parallel. I thought maybe it's the stretch reflex of me coming back up but it still happens with pause squats.

For what it's worth I had this same problem with my conventional deadlift, did a lot of SSB squats for 6 weeks, then pulled 4pl8 conventional with essentially no rounding pretty easily when before I would round pretty badly with 3.5pl8.

I agree that Front/SSB squats are great for fixing this.

I think it's better to do more volume with them. I did a LP 5x5 2x a week and added 5 lbs each time. After doing that along with a lot of deadlift volume for 6 weeks though, my legs were fried and I had to take a week off squatting.

It's generally recommended to keep the reps around 3 because your upper back and other shit will tire out before your legs do with longer sets.
