Like are you young (under 18) very frail, train legs once a week, squat in repetitions over 8? Don't push yourself?

>tfw after 8months i can squat a little over 1pl8
>tfw 5x5

took me 2 years and some moths to squat 3pl8

heh

Why? Like literally why? Were you squatting once a week? Doing meme 5 sets? Why don't you squat 2 times a week for 8 sets of 3 and actually grow?

I was a retard and thought that I had to lift my 5RM every session to improve instead of loading progressively. Are you happy now, OP?

Dumb question - what is this pl8 measurement you speak of?

Yes actually. It makes sense. I fell for that meme. After I decided to listen to my body I grew.

>Brb "I'm gonna do triples of 365 today"
>Brb do a triple of 365, felt to easy
>do 5 reps of 365 next
>drop weight to 315, do 5 reps

Literally walk out the gym without doing accessory work. And you'd think I'm on steroids or some sort is program. No retard I listen to my body and ALWAYS push myself

I don't squat because I physically can't. My thoracic spine is curved too much the wrong way and no matter what I do I can't have a bar on my back more than 1pl8 without it resting on my spine and risking catastropic damage. Had a professional check my form, that's not it. Had orthopaedic doctors check me, it's not a critical spinal condition but I'm not OK to put a barbell on that, I'll end up paralyzed from the waist down in the end. I do leg press, leg curls, leg extensions, seated calf raises, seated rows, standing rows, and deadlifts instead, no problem, instead.

A plate means 1 45lb plate on each side. 3pl8 is 3 45lbs on each side or 315lbs counting the bar.

>be me
>lift for over a year
>squat 2 pl8s
>leg press 7 pl8s
Sorry that i have shortened harmstings and cant go that down without raising my heels and try to avoid stumbling.

Yes, i do leg press....

How many reps/sets of leg press at that level? At my height last December I was doing 3 sets of 20 reps at 965 on a 45 degree sled, knees all the way down to my chest.

I'm on an enternal cut, 65 lbs and counting.

Are you 8 years old?

Want to see some porn?

sets at that level?
only one, because its my last set.

I do
4pl8s 10 reps
5pl8s 8 reps
6pl8s 8 reps
7pl8s 6 reps

I only weight 178lbs so i assume that is good.. maybe.

But holy, 965?

cause squats are for dorks

Wow, thanks for not being a dick about that.

I've been going to the gym for six weeks and can squat 2 pl8 plus some. Plenty of time to get to 3 I guess

>But holy, 965?
What can I tell you? I'm a cyclist on a road racing team, have been for the last 7 race seaons, been training for 8 years.

Note: 965 on a 45 degree sled is 682 actual. It's still 9+ pl8 plus a little more loaded onto the sled, and I'm actually embarassed because some people in the gym stop and stare when I'm doing it. At one point I pushed myself up to around 1200 pounds of plates, but my left knee informed me on no uncertain terms that Enough Was Enough, so I backed off.

This year I've upped the max reps of exercises to 30 reps, so I might go as high as 965 for 3 sets of 30 reps. ;-)

I don't squat, girls don't care about legs

>girls don't care about legs
You stupid shit, you're lifting for girls. Leave Veeky Forums immediately, you're CANCEROUS.

There's people who've gone up well over 2000lbs on a 45 degree leg press. It's a vastly easier movement than squatting.

believe it or not most people don't know how to eat or try hard
>6 weeks
>doesn't know pl8 measurement
>2pl8 squat and change
unless you have an athletic background I'd recommend recording yourself. I have a sneaking suspicion that you half-squat.

>It's a vastly easier movement than squatting.
So what? Trying to represent squats as the 'Gold Standard' of strength training is unrealistic at best. I see dudes at the gym all the time who 'try' to do squats, but their form is awful because they don't have the flexibility to do them properly, and never will either. Genetics are in play here. Therefore there are other, SAFER exercises to build leg strength.

By the way, none of the guys on my team complain about my ability to put out large amounts of force when riding, and I out-climb lighter more experienced guys all the time, because my training (in the gym, and on my bike) is very effective. Squats are nice, but if like me you just can't physically do them, then you do the alternatives -- to great effect in my case.

I was in the military and heavy into martial arts for years so yes I have an athletic background, though I never really did squats. My legs are parallel to the ground when I squat. Is that right?

Impressive, really impressive.
I will keep moving forward, may i hit soon the 8 pl8s, but im little bit affraid of ruining my knees.

I'm just pointing out that while 965 sounds like a hell of a lot of weight, the angled leg press is a movement where basically everyone does 2-3x the weight most people would think is normal because of the factors involved.

You probably could squat. Not saying it'd actually be worth the effort to do so, but if people can squat with good form despite having clubfeet or other issues that completely destroy either ankle or hip mobility, genetics likely aren't your issue.

the forest by my place or yours?

tis true. we lift for men.

But how can you squat 3 plates? 2 on one side and 1 on the other?
You'll lose balance, idiot.

What is holding you back from squatting ass to grass?

Mobility is not an issue. You're putting too much weight on the bar or your legs are too close together.

I can't squat ATG on my own but put 300 lbs on the bar, I'll have my ass hitting my heels

>but im little bit affraid of ruining my knees.
Progress conservatively and listen to your body and you'll be fine.

You didn't read previous posts. I'll summarize:
o Spinal condition precludes my doing squats
o I always consider leg press plate weight total multiplied by sin(45) (which is 0.707) to Keep It Real
o I train for a sport, not for 'aesthetics' or 'pride' so there is a Plan involved
I stop at 3x bodyweight (at weight times 0.707) because I don't want to injure myself for no reason, or create muscle imbalances. I literally DGAF about how much I *could* squat, if I actually could, I care about how well I *race*. Motivation and purpose trump everything else, as does reality.

>What is holding you back from squatting ass to grass?
This:

So do you have another bullshit excuse for not front squatting instead, or are you just a pussboy that thinks hoarding all of the plates so you can max out leg press makes you strong

Pull up your pants, your insecurity is showing, weak manlet.

Don't worry man, everyone has excuses why they can't squat. You can just say "I'm a bitch"

Don't try and lie, just man up to it. Save some face.

Injuries from soccer, bote knees and one foot...

What kind of pussy injuries do you get from soccer? You get a bruise on the knee?
My sister doesn't have both her ACL's anymore from actual sports, she's got that fake synthetic shit. She still squats and has improved her knee health after surgery.
Keep on lying pussiboi.

Only been going for a few months but I'm finding that my back really hurts for days after I do squats.

Could this be because I'm still fatasfatass? The extra fat putting pressure where it shouldn't be? Should I stop with squats until I've lowered my body fat?

I've had multiple people watch (including my PT and a m8 who's really Veeky Forums) and they say my form is really good

>have unbalanced weight
>stabilizers have to work extra hard to stop you from tipping over
>sick stabilizer gains
Checkmate atheists

Wow. I wish I could say I'm surprised at the level of insecurity I see on Veeky Forums, but sadly, I'm not at all surprised.

I suggest YOU actually lift, instead of just repeating tired-out memes and trolling in the lowest-common-denominator ways imaginable. Maybe then you won't be so insecure, k?

Fiance died but before that she was in a wheelchair then bed ridden. Once she was gone I broke and still haven't moved on nor do I care to move on in the first place. I intentionally squat only once every 2 weeks just so it's the hardest fucking exercise to do and gaining strength on it is almost impossible.

I do it for her so I feel closer to her and how she started getting weaker in her legs. In my own mind my strength goes to her so I want squats to be super hard

>barely even 2.5 plate squat , 4 plate dead is easy as shit

Why not keep it hard by constantly pushing for higher weight until you're squatting 10pl8 in her memory?

I'm not insecure, but keep projecting, you're the one who has been getting all defensive about not squatting and seeking some sort of handout saying "oh thats ok bro" but its not.

I do lift, and I do lift more than you, probably have over double your wilks. Wait, make that like 4 times since you don't squat. LOL.

do more shrugs and deadlifts for bigger traps. Id think that more fat would help cushion it, but muscle is what wil definitely help you. when it was becoming too much for my traps i started doing 2-3 sets of shrugs right before deadlifting and it helped alot just from the pump

Also, go back to ledit bonerbreath, no one cares and no one is here to love or console you, you're trash deal with it. If you want loving SJW cuck garbage go to ledit.

>projecting

Sorry no one is impressed with your 352.7284kg leg press user,

I'll give that a go for help with it in general but I don't think it will help my problem as the pain is all in my lower back

I actually like back squats but since it's grinding as fuck now I have added front squats into the mix as well and have been progressing quite easily there.

If you're backsquattig enough you shouldn't be front squatting after

I have a 4 plate dead and barely grinding 2.5 plate back squat. I started front squatting with 65lbs and just been adding 5 lbs a workout. It's quite easy and the following day my legs aren't taxed that badly that I need extra time to recover.

>back squat
>front squat
>stiff leg dead
>calves
>body weight pistol squats
>dragon flags for abs
>shower

Wow. Just, wow. You're literally getting all upset over this. Are you a manlet with likewise shitty genetics, who can't get past 1pl8 squat and can't even bench the bar? Must be, no one else would get this mad over literally nothing, be this insecure. Must be terrible to live inside your head. Meanwhile I have the respect of teammates and get noticed all the time. Do you even get sneered at by women, or do they just igonore you completely? How do you manage to not kill yourself every day?

Gee, that means so much coming from a fuccboi refugee from Veeky Forums who 'trains' for 'aesthetics'. Come back when you can wear Big Boy pants and are training for an actual REASON, not just to attract huge black cocks to your anus.

I'm so angry.. after three years I was up to just under 4 pl8 squat (i don't stretch enough, like a pleb), and 12pl8 leg press for 3 when I fucked my back in a car accident.. now I'm down to babies first 2pl8 barely parallel...

>now I'm down to babies first 2pl8 barely parallel...
>not going atg
So you're saying you can't do 2pl8?

Ass to grass you stupid cunt.

Does the gym have to have real grass inside or is imitation okay?

Back squats are a fucking meme for powerlfters

Literally the most overrated exercise ever for leg hypertrophy,

Next-level memeing.

I've been lifting for around 2 years, BUT i was really just messing around.
I started for real around 6 months ago and I went from 105kg squat to 135kg, So I'm almost there OP.

3x5 btw

Dead serious. Can get the same level of mass with safer exercises that don't drain you for the rest of your workout.

Just over a year lifting

Sedentary lifestyle before, I don't think I could deadlift 135 when I started
Also fat
Cut for a good portion of first year
Down to 140 15-18%bf% @5'8"
Now bulking, still under 150lb though, squat is somewhere ~215lb for 5
Squat 3x a week
Weak life

>safer exercises

What exercises

Fuck off, faggot. Go whinge to your mum.

Beer.

> muh condishuns
you sound like a fatty
its mobility, not flexibility and anyone in the world can get at least the mobility to go at least parallel. 99% even atg. only a few actual medical conditions cant but you wont be seing those squatting

Some people (eg Dorian Yates) just don't have good proportions for squatting.

Lol. Yeah never mind continue with squats if your this retarded. Squats is the most dangerous leg exercise

>b-but leg press compresses the spine

yes perhaps if you dip that shit all the way. Kys

Back as in upper back? You could try low bar squats and see if that helps.

I feel more pressure on my lower back with leg press than squats

No, lower back. Just above my ass

Parallel is literally accepted in powerlifting you aspie memelord :-)

You probably just have shitty hip flexibility, try stretching more

Having the highest possible 1RM isn't a goal for me at all, and its a really fucking stupid goal for anyone to have.

wasn't eating enough, increased calories and went from 2pl8 to 3pl8 in just under 3 months

Let me just tell you guys that I have started front squatting. That pretty much makes me superior to all you others at the gym. I'm already up to 1 plate. That's right, I'm up to doing plates my friends.

Often enough there's someone back squatting lmao3pl8 next to me and struggling like 1-3 reps. While I'm there repping my front squat with 1 plate on each side. I can't help but feel superior in most ways. And guess what grip I'm using. Yes, that's right, it's the perfect clean and jerk grip, I have it. You back squatters probably can't even hold the bar in the frontier squat.

Thanks for laughs.

I don't do squats.

hey doods this is my first time on Veeky Forums
i started going to the gym this week and on my first squat i did 150kg
is that good?
i weigh 80kg and am 6'4 btw

Almost nade it to 3pl8 only going two times. Readon is i dont get enough sleep and dont eat. Sometimes i dont go for a month, ive missed lots of days.

b-bitch I -I can squat 290...lbs

because id rather cycle 40 km and go on a roadtrip

perfect leg day

>squat
>mfw ripped my underwear while squatting today

Wait, I should'nt be doing my 5RM every session ?

i've been going for 5 months and can do it. i'll probably hit 4pl8 before 1 year mark

how much are you at atm?

Becaus this bish mire a 1 plate of he's lean

AMIRITE GUYS

I started at 80lbs though...at least I hit 2pl8...

i been working out for 8 years now and i cant even squat 3pl8

I'm in it for asthetics, not strength.

I'll get it before the year is over.

I've had some serious squat issues.

Was doing it wrong (bar too high) for 8 months, hurt my back. Stopped squatting. Spent 4 months doing PT. (I had a chronicly bulged disc before I ever started squatting).

Came back at it, only 1x per week. Stalled at 245. Hurt my hips.

Dropped to 225 to try to work back up from there. Now 3x a week. Stalled at 225. Could add weight but form or depth suffered. Got a rotator cuff injury from squatting.

Dropped to 205. Stalled.

Dropped to 195. That's where I am today.

Meanwhile my deadlift is at 375

>965 on a 45 degree sled is 682 actual
The mechanical advantage at 45 degrees would make it half of 965. How do you figure 682?

152.5 kg 3x5

i dunno man, i makes me sad too but i guess im not eating enough

3 years + Training
~63kg to ~78kg same bf roughly. maybe a bit less
183cm tall
110kg squat
95kg bench
65kg ohp
140kg dl
(those are 1 rms i actually did. i think at my peak where i did 3x5 105kg squats i could have done 1 rep of 120kg but never tried)

most of the time i did sl 5x5 / 3x5

dont ask me why my squat and dl is so low compared to my bench and ohp

i even focused on legs more than other exercises since i actually like squats

i really should eat more i think

that is really low for over 3 years. stop caring about abs and eat more. you can always cut and look even better

Meh, I've gone snap city on both my knees at some point so I got an excuse :^)

you are probably right
but what i really dont get is why can i continue to Progress on bench and stall on squats so hard?
