>cyprus wants to unite with greece
>turkey panics
>uses bullshit excuse to invade
>greece is going through political problems and can't effectively respond
>nato doesn't give a shit
>cyprean policemen using handguns still manage to stop the turkish army from taking the entire island
basically a testament to turkish opportunism and genocidal instincts and to greek courage and resolve

Typical Turks being savages. We need to kill them all and give their land to Greece.

It's their fault for being wh*te

>Cyprus politically divided between Greek and Turkish communities
>Greeks mostly want union with Greece
>Turks mostly want partition
>the (Greek) president, Archbishop Makarios III, tries to steer an independent course to keep the country together
>He's overthrown in a pro-unification coup
>The Turks take advantage and invade, enforce partition
>the pro-Greek half doesn't unify with Greece (I guess because the coup discredited the idea, but I'm less clear on that part)

third balkan war when?

>population at the time consisted of 77% Greek Cypriots, 18% Turkish Cypriots and 5% other
>no such thing as a regional majority exist, populations are dispersed arbitrarily all over the island
>Cyprus is under presidency of Archbishop Makarios III
>Makarios is literally Jesus and the greatest man that ever lived
>Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots are equals
>Greece is under fascist Junta and has influence in Cyprus
>Someone is found shot, ethnic awareness rises and many Greek Cypriots support unification with Greece
>Turkosh nationalists and *nglos do anything to boycott this
>riots occur on both sides, people are killed
>meanwhile Makarios, supporting an independant Cyprus escapes death 4 times by Greek nationalist assassination attempts
>Makarios is literally God
>Turkey decides to use some deaths as an excuse for land grab ignoring the fact that people died during riots on both sides
>Turkey invades Cyprus and threatens Greece with war if they intervene, Greeks pussy out
>Turkey manages to take the North, and expell 300,000 Greek Cypriots along with killing off anyone who doesn't comply
>*nglo jews pretend to be bystanders
>Turks manage to completely shit up Famagusta im Northern Cyprus and turn the city into a mine ridden ghost town off limits today
>Turks also take Kyreneia, one of the most beautiful and historical places
>Tiny Greek Cypriots defend larger part of island alone, meanwhile UN and US pretend they didn't give Turkey the green light to invade and keep LARPing as pisskeepers by sanctioning Turkey and "condemning" the invasion
>Turkish Cypriots feelbad.jpg but it doesn't matter anymore because Turkey settled a majority non-Cypriot Turkish population in the Greek residences
>talks for reunification are seen as priority but first generation immigrants act like absolute cunts and always block this even though Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots are literally pals
t. Cypriot

hopefully soon, Constantinople and Anatolia can't be cleansed soon enough

This happened.

I hope the turks take that place over just because of the salty tears

*nglo/roach hybrid detected. The chain of Greco-Levantine bodybuilders along the border would be impregnable.

t. panniced kebab terrified of Russia and Greece.

Are there any groups trying to do this

>greece comes under military junta
>cyprus gets the idea of uniting with greece
>but there are shitload of turks left from the ottoman period
>'lets just kill them'
>turkey invades to protect their people
>greeks are eternally butthurt about it

>implying cyprus isn't anything but a holiday resort

Why would turkey be afraid of greece?
Also relations with russia are pretty good.

>shitload of turks
>less than 15% of the population randomly dispersed around the island
>like 2 turks die in riots where both greeks and turks died
>"GINOSHIDE BADDDD eventhoughwegenocidedgreeksarmeniansassyriansandkurdspleaseignorethat"

it's one of those conflicts that were swepped under a rug by the Western in order to cover Turkey because MUH NATO

If they aren't afraid why did they burn down forests in the 90's?

>The 1974 Cypriot coup d'état was a military coup d'état by the Cypriot National Guard and the Greek military junta of 1967–1974. On 15 July 1974 the coup plotters ousted President Makarios III and replaced him with pro-Enosis (Greek irridentist) nationalist Nikos Sampson as dictator.[1][2][3] The Sampson regime was described as a puppet state, whose ultimate aim was the annexation of the island by Greece;[4][5][6] in the short term, the coupists proclaimed the establishment of the "Hellenic Republic of Cyprus"

>The coup was ordered by Dimitrios Ioannidis, a leading figure of the Greek junta, and Greek officers led the Cypriot National Guard to capture the Presidential Palace in Nicosia.[14] The building was almost entirely burned down.[15] Makarios narrowly escaped death in the attack. He fled the presidential palace from its back door and went to Paphos, where the British managed to retrieve him in the afternoon of 16 July and flew him from Akrotiri to Malta in a Royal Air Force Armstrong Whitworth Argosy transport and from there to London by a de Havilland Comet the next morning.[2][16][1] On 19 July, he attended a United Nations Security Council meeting in New York and made a speech, in which he stated that Cyprus was invaded by Greece.[17]

In response, Rauf Denktaş, the leader of the Turkish Cypriot Administration, stated that he believed that the events were among Greek Cypriots and called for Turkish Cypriots not to go out, as well as for UNFICYP to take extensive security measures for Turkish Cypriots.[22] The Cypriot National Guard made no attempts to enter the Turkish Cypriot enclaves, but raided Greek and Turkish Cypriot homes alike in mixed villages to confiscate weapons. The Turkish government brought claims that ammunition was being carried to Cyprus by Olympic Air to the attention of UNFICYP.[23] Whether the Turkish Cypriots suffered as a direct result of the coup remains controversial, but Sampson was seen as an untrustworthy figure due to his pro-enosis policies and "brutal" role against Turkish Cypriots in 1963.[14]

Following the coup, the newly established junta started a crackdown on Makarios supporters, resulting in a number of deaths and a "significant number", according to Frank Hoffmeister, being detained. The number of deaths from the coup remains a disputed issue,[14] as the Republic of Cyprus lists the deaths due to the coup among the missing due to the Turkish invasion. According to Haralambos Athanasopulos, at least 500 Greek Cypriots have been placed on the list of 1617 Greek Cypriot missing people and their deaths blamed on the Turks and Turkish Cypriots.[24] According to Milliyet on 19 July 1974, violent clashes had broken out in Paphos, and even excluding Paphos, the death toll due to Greek Cypriot infighting was about 300 civilians and 30 Greek soldiers, whose bodies were brought to Athens.

The newly established regime has been described as an extremist puppet regime of the Greek junta.[18][19][20] On 15 July, between 8 am and 9 am, the coup leaders proclaimed their victory on the state channel Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, saying "The national guard intervened in order to solve the problematical situation. [...]. Makarios is dead." However, before his flight, Makarios announced that he was alive from a private broadcast in Paphos. The new government heavily censored the press and left-wing newspapers stopped being printed. Only right-wing newspapers Machi, Ethniki and Agon continued publishing, and their style was very propagandistic. Sampson did not openly announce his intention of enosis in the days following the coup, but instead focused on suppressing any support for Makarios and heavy propaganda to vilify his government.

>a coup to unite a 90% greek island with greece is proper justification to invade and genocide local greeks

Black turks truly demonstrate their natursl admirable martial prowess here
