*I* don't, but too many denizens of Veeky Forums think that they're doing themselves some sort of huge favor by drinking sugar-free sodas, and this says they're actually sabotaging themselves. *I* drink WATER and LIKE it, and fatasses trying to lose weight should also be drinking nothing but based WATER and liking it, too. But I'm also posting this because opinionated faggots of Veeky Forums have been saying for years that aspartame doesn't have any bad side effects, and this study clearly shows that it does.

I don't think anyone shitposting on Veeky Forums has much to contribute about very recent biomedical research like this. That being said, I think a lot of people would be healthier and happier if they would give up trying to find bullshit loopholes like sugar-free sweets and just eat good diets that don't require this shit.

Better to just drink beverages with sugar and limit consumption. What Ive been doing is drinking fruit juice with like half a cup of juice and the rest filled with water. Tastes great and doesnt have all that much calories

Aspartame is more studied than any other food substance, and still it is considered harmless by every nation's food agency.

Who knows, perhaps there is something wrong with it. Perhaps some wise man will discover this in the future. If there is anything wrong with it, thought, it will be VERY minor, or all the constant studies and the hundreds of millions/billions of people who drink it in the real world would have clearly shown something is wrong with it.

There has yet to be any convincing science showing artificial sweeteners are bad for you in any way. In contrast, refined sugar has been shown to be terrible in even moderate amounts. Pure unadulterated honey is ok, but if you hear it then it loses many of its beneficial properties so you can't cook with it or put it in hot beverages without it essentially being sugar.

Best decision I made Veeky Forums wise was getting pure, generic sucralose granules off of amazon. The little baggy will last me months, if not a year or more, and I can sweeten my tea and protein smoothies without adding 150+ kcal of sugar to my diet.

I should be more clear: ADDED sugar is bad for you. You are correct that all carbohydrates get broken down into sugar. The caveat is that the process of conversion slows the release of insulin. If you take in pure sugar, it doesn't need to be processed and so your body releases a huge spike of insulin (aka simple or high GI carbs). If the process is long and drawn out, you get a slower release of insulin (aka complex or low GI carbs).

Insulin spikes lead to insulin resistance (diabetes). Large insulin spikes also promote fat storage over slower release (unless you're on the juice, in which case all bets are off).
