I went from 5'11 to 6'2 between 18 and 21, some people are just have a genetic predisposition to be tall. External factors don't matter besides diet, sunlight exposure, and sleep. Obviously I'm not saying be sedentary 24/7 but you don't need to start trying to lift as heavy as possible thinking it'll make you taller.
