Should I get tigjt fit or one size below tight fit for my SBD knee sleeves

oh?

>105x

holy shit lmfao kys

OHP makes for a better, less farcical competition lift and is what powerlifting needs to be taken more seriously.

Discuss

What is farcical about the bench press

Overhead pressing was LITERALLY removed from weightlifting because it was stupid difficult to ref.

I mean people are already making questionable calls on squats so getting rid of bench (which is easy as shit to ref) to get a lift that is quite possibly the hardest thing to ref ever is stupid.

bench is easier to have strict guidelines for and lets us live within the happy illusion that PL is an actual sport.

I can't bench that much. Powerlifting should really be deadlift, deficit deadlift and paused deadlifts.

The story will go to my grave

anyone want to give sumo help
i dont know what im doing

these just felt uncomfortable, akward and weaker than conventional
this also seems to be as much as i can externally rotate

they are just wide stance conventional arent they?
should i just forget about them and try to spend the time on fixing conventional instead

got any vids of people starting with shit sumo that actually got good
everyone ive talked to seemed to pretty much lift more right away
seems strange its not the case for me since everyone my size seems to sumo

Powerlifting should be squat, bench, deadlift, overhead press

then fuck off

and other webm

People still fall for this bait

...

...

push your knees out more and keep them out so you can get your hips more into the bar

>they are just wide stance conventional arent they?
yes
actually watch a video on how to do it correctly

noice oc!
have a (you)

>making meets even longer and more boring
lol

...

dont be a pussy and pull conventional, anyone who's naturally good at deadlifts pulls conventional.

>shit leadup to competition with tons of stress
>lose 1kg
>right pec hurting, benching crooked in training
>feel pec at 130kg in warmup
>fail 202.5kg in third lift
do you still like me plg? :(

and no sumo

As long as you pull conventional you'll be loved here.

...

Is there a trip doing anything with RPE here? Pretty sure there's someone here coached by Mike T or something, IIRC.

What happened to lonelyPL?

The entire set up of needing a bench to brace your back against. It's a silly contrivance to support ego lifting.

When, in any sport or life activity outside of this circus are you going to brace your back against a rigid surface with a tight arch and push something away from your chest?

Besides that, OHP would drastically reduce the number of shoulder injuries in powerlifting. It also won't benefit equipped elastic babbies as much as bench press, keeping powerlifting closer to the RAW Masterrace it needs to be to get any credibility outside of powerlifting itself.

No, the clean and press was removed from Olympic weightlifting because it was pretty fucking redundant to have clean and jerk AND clean and press. The "difficulty" in judging was a lame excuse, and a poor one to bring up to defend the bench press. The idiotic, low standards applied to bench press nowadays result in all sorts of stupid wide grip 2 inch ROM "bench pressing," which is exactly the sort of bullshit that keeps powerlifting as niche as tentacle porn.

No non-lifting schmuck is going to see those bench presses and think, "gee, that's goddamn impressive and I want to see more of that." Even actual gymgoers, casual lifters, and other athletes are going to see that shit and thing "gee, that was an 8th of a rep. Seven more and I'll count it for one."

OHP > Bench Press

...

quality is decreasing tBh, painting is much nicer

you did the best you could do

that was as far out i could get them
set after that i tried to get hips in more and i couldnt even break 160 of the ground and it felt like i was going to rip apart
could be a mobility issue, i just dont see it getting better

ive watched how to do it but it doesnt translate well to me actually being able to do it

i do pull conventional
its just ugly as fuck (webm related)
and im not naturally good at deadlifts

>even having to ask

underscore is

...

Replace everything you said with sumo and I agree man.

Strict curl will bring powerlifting to the mainstream.

Like who? Sounds like a friend desu

I don't get something, call me stupid but this is a legit question. Why would anyone pull conventional? I understand the concept of being "built" for deadlifts and being good at conventional.... But if you're already built for conventional wouldn't pulling sumo just amplify that effect as it gives you better leverages in addition to your already good genetic leverages?

...

>do you still like me plg? :(
no

Do we want Pl in the mainstream? Then the football chads would destroy our wilks, Ray Williams is a goat and he would have played foot ball if he was an inch taller.

...

ya mean it?
I dont know, its a hypothetical question

I like you! Youre nice

>lose 1kg
congratulations
Nah but you've had a bunch of really good competitions lately(nats, bench-regionals, regionals) now you just have to endure the shit ones that have to come to balance out the good ones.

Alrighty then.

Give me a (you) is you're here underscore. Just gotta double check something.

Of course, you are the best trip.

Mario Insulini, the roidaroo italian

>When, in any sport or life activity outside of this circus
When are you gonna hunt a non-round ball for 5 seconds and then dry-hump a bunch of buff niggers for 5 minutes in real life? When are you gonna hunt a round ball so you can kick it inside a metal construction and fall down on the ground and grab your leg whenever someone comes one meter near you?

>But if you're already built for conventional wouldn't pulling sumo just amplify that effect as it gives you better leverages in addition to your already good genetic leverages?
No. Don't ask me why but it just doesn't work that way.

not in my case
i would love to have a flawless 4 inch rom sumo that people outside powerlifting would laugh at me for and call me a cheater
but the bar says no

>rubs his chadary in our face
>starts attacking our hypothetical friend
enough isley

also at what point did you call it a day on sumo?

He jumped ship when Sean moved to discord and didn't black mail him anymore

No, sorry, I only like Boardshorts now.

But who I like most of all is someone who doesn't come here anymore.

A good friend.

YOU'VE GONE OFF THE RAILS

SO DON'T GET ANY IDEAS

THEY'RE NOT GONNA HAPPEN

...

In a little while.....

I'll beeeee gone......

Always.
Virtus and Underscore.
I do too but I have little experience
Anybody have any experience running any og the GZCL type programs? Seems intriguing but also like there's very little actual volume in the main movements.

Could try moving your feet in a little bit next time and see how that feels.
To get your knees out more, start rolling and stretching your hams and adductors, and do the Duffin warmups. For adductors, do the frog stretch (try to have your feet wide, rock back and forth) and do the couch stretch for your hip flexors as well.

tfw patiently waiting for LP to run out.

getting kinda tired of 3x5 but my lifts still seem to go up once or twice a week

Yeah man me too

I'm so bored of getting strong quick

Ughhhh

First meet coming up in a couple months, I'm running Sheiko into it after a full history of SS.. How am I supposed to choose my attempts? Skill test in week 9 is unpeaked so is it all setting an easy opener and gauging on the fly?

seriously contemplating giving up lifting right now. thanks friend

GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE WITH THAT OHP FUCKIN BULL SHIT FUCK YOU

REEEEEEEËËËË

Should I keep fucking with Quelaag's Furysword? Starting to actually get bored with how effective it is. Never really messed around with the Gargoyl Tail Axe but I think it would be kinda fun to do a playthrough with a spiky dildo.

If it's your first meet, go light on the opener. It's better to go 10 kg too light than 10 kg too heavy. If your max on week 9 is heavy, you can set that as a second attempt on your meet and the opener as ~10 kg lower than that.

i did start off narrower, which seemed wide until i seen the video, but it made it even more conventional
have you seen people get a dramatic change in starting position with stretching, im just not sure if it will be worth my time if i cant get back more vertical

should i not be going as heavy either until i have it down, that was about 72% of conventional

thank you kind friend!

i had to progressively move my stance out further with stretching. also I was weaker originally with sumo but it quickly overtook my conv when I trained it.

could you post any before and afters if you have them?

First time running sheiko. I'm confident I'll get 105% for the 'skills test' as the max I set was a long paused rep (still heaviest squat I've ever done). I didn't particularly realise it was a skills test. Will 105% not always be possible? Should I try go over 105%?

what would you guys ask for as a gift when people ask you what you want? for a birthday

Sure.

A little psychological fact I learnt long ago is that people like you more when they do favours for you.

Nothing, because I'm not a child who wants "pweasants"

Unless your hip morphology don't allow a wider stance, you should notice a change after just rolling your legs and hips and doing a specific warmup.
>dramatic change
I'd say Garrett Blevins has had that, but it didn't happen overnight.
>not go as heavy
I wouldn't max out with that technique, no.
I'd rather stick to submax weights and consider doing them paused. If your conventional technique is better, leave the heaviest work for that.

just looked at some of my old ig stuff and it's really not helpful, although it's nice to have a reminder how much better my form is now.
how to into reading comp

>should notice a change after just rolling your legs and hips and doing a specific warmup.
ill try it next time and see, would you mind having a look at them next time
chances are tho ill say fuck it like has happened in the past
> If your conventional technique is better, leave the heaviest work for that.
oh you mean dont try to switch to sumo completely
warm up sumo? and paused off ground?

thanks anyway lad

Assuming you're into powerlifting as well. Probably something like knee sleeves, earphones or chalk. Something that'll help you at the gym but isn't too expensive. Even something like a nice water bottle

I can try.
I see no reason why you can't do both conventional and sumo. Is there a reason? How often do you deadlift?
I don't want you warming up to conventional with sumo, no.

when are we gonna see a shirtless pic you sexy bastard?

oh so lighter technique sumo on separate day
yeah i could do that

kek
no point
its fucking nothing

Ye, something like that. Tell me what program you're running please.

I'd be fucking something if I were you.

nothing at the minute
run sabres program, coming from a certain injury ive mentioned here, into 2 meets close together and im starting to break apart again in general
so ive been taking it easy at the minute

got any ideas?

actually been thinking about coaching in the near future

acrobolix.com/deadlifting-the-jujimufu-way/

>7-12 sets of 3-6 reps at 70%
>always double oh, no straps.
>sets and reps are done by feel: when the reps begin to slow down, that should be your *last* set (i usually hit 8 or 9 sets).
> then, 1 max rep set
>twice a week

anyone else deadlift like this? feels pretty good desu

You deadlift about 3 plate don't you

What's that DnB lad's name again? I lost it.
>Any ideas?
Not really, think you'll be fine.
I think I'd work up to a xRM without too shitty technique and get some volume in at that weight, or drop some % and get volume there. Paused deadlifts either the entire session (but not every session) or just a few sets at the end, at the very least a couple of paused warmup sets.

You'll think of something I reckon.

What coach?

4pl8. what are u insinuating? he does this and pulls 600

at 230lbs, on steroids

not even good

this is a powerlifting thread not a meme instagram people thread

dont make me get my rape whistle out again lad lol
post your sumo btw

ill try something like that
possibly blessings funny enough, have to look into others tho yet

ok tough guy.

>muh high reps
>muh doh
>muh roids
>muh manlet
yeah gl doing this more than a month

Don't forget the Duffin warmup.

Blessings or TSA are probably your best options.
