I say to him, lift it and he didn't even did a full lift, i kinda felt good.

Don't worry mate, give it a couple of month more and you'll achieve that glorious 1pl8 lvl, fist couple of weeks usually don't provide too much improvement, it's after that period your weights will begin to grow as shrooms after rain.

My thoughts as well. Recently I've switched to squatting once a week and deadlifting twice a week (as opposed to the opposite). Also increased volume from 1x5 to 3x5 for deload weights. We'll see what happens.
