nothing specific, just setting up goals i wouldnt have considered as goals (doing laundry on a regular basis, not just when needed. reading more. saving a few bucks here and there. abusing free stuff, etc)

The last step is to get a cheap notebook and write your progress in it every day.
I started out just recording reps, sets, and weight lifted.
I got to where when doing supplementary work I would record if I was doing a movement isometrically, concentrically, or eccentrically. I'd make notes on how my form was, and even on other exercises if I was pausing beteeen reps (how long) and break time between sets.
Everything that you can record can be managed, and that's one more way you can make progress on an exercise or lift.
Learning discipline and metric control with lifting will bleed into real life as well.
Take the plunge.
Same principle with budgeting.
