I see no problem here

>*BANG*
>scooby pls help me

Should've asked Scooby for help

I don't know OP, why don't you go ask John Ashe.

Ashe was found dead at his home in Dobbs Ferry, New York on June 22, 2016. The Westchester County, New York medical examiner's office reported that Ashe died of injuries (specifically, traumatic asphyxia, and laryngeal fractures) suffered when a barbell he was lifting from a bench dropped on his neck.

TL;DR, don't piss off Hillary.

does shittetoe recommend against a wood-frame house?

should've set his safeties

>lives in a wooden house

mark is an idiot
>pr. me and my friend mike chang trolling for sloots.

*forgot pic

so uh...what happens when you fling several hundred pounds of iron directly at a wooden crossmember on a badly failed lift ?

Nothing, wood is strong.

>Build wooden rack the exact same shape as a metal rack thinking the materials will be nearly as strong in critical areas.

>tfw too broke to buy equipment and have a single dumbbell coming in tomorrow
Literally going to do Floor press, OHP, and curls for months.

You can clean and squat that shit, and deadlift obviously.

Why wouldn't it be?

it can crack

>deadlift obviously
Holy fuck this is crazy.

Going to need to buy a heavier dumbbell though.

one leg rdl are superior

Wood is pretty fucking strong, I used to work in a sawmill and would have to do stress tests which consisted of pushing a hydraulic press on to the centre of the board until it broke, guarantee nobody on Veeky Forums can lift a weight that would break a building grade piece of pine.

it doesn't have to break. a tiny crack will gradually degrade the integrity of the whole structure.

well thats why you inspect and replace as needed

>that guy that inspects his machine's structural integrity between sets

It depends on the direction of the force relative to the grain direction, but even in the right direction, the holes drilled in for the safety catches significantly weaken that grain strength. Further, the unit OP built would need a lot of dismantling to replace even one of the upright supports, which would be a huge pain in the ass considering how often he'd probably have to do it

>safety pins that high

stop quarter squatting

If wood were strong, it would still be a tree.
Like, we wouldn't even be able to chop it.
Checkmake, woodshopists.

>Wood is pretty fucking strong
No, some wood types are strong, others are shit.

nice original joke user :^)

Guys has anyone ever tried to build a rack from stone? Like actual solid rock?

manlet detected

Guys I live an hour from the nearest gym and it's probably shit anyway, what are the essentials for a home gym? Got a barbell and dumbbells with a few light weights at the moment, no racks or benches

Are the main pieces 6x4s? and are your safeties hollow bars lol

It's not fucking plywood m8

nice crafting skills you got there you little gnome

>Also recommends squat everyday and deadlifting once a week for 1x5

b-but he has a barbell

is he a retarded

maybe the ancient greeks but i think it would have the same problem as wood its so dense and so solid it will crack and lose stability and safety quickly. not to mention that at least with wood you can replace parts of it but solid stone cracks and the whole thing is fucked.

metal > all because it is flexible, malleable and sturdy.
