>at the gym, finishing up bench >previous set was rough, almost didn't make it >get a little nervous for my last one >slightly autistic about asking for a spotter >just decide to go for it and deal with the consequences >make it through 3 reps, really struggling >bout to go down for the 4th when suddenly >FOR THE GRACE FOR THE MIGHT OF THE LORD, FOR THE HOME OF THE HOLY >become superman, send the bar to the fucking moon >easiest reps of the day
What music makes the last few reps for Veeky Forums seem like nothing?
I usually listen to Taylor Swift in the gym. Especially "style" which is basically a crypto-reference to the 3rd Reich. I'm /pol/ as fuck though.

>gymbro is on vacation >stalling on dem squats >lmao2pl8 is absolute max for me >put on headphones >THIS IS TEN PERCENT LUCK >TWENTY PERCENT SKILL >FIFTEEN PERCENT CONCENTRATED POWER OF WILL >crank out 8 my reps like the autist i am >manlet next to me starts mirin'

Mastodons (Iron Tusk) early works have their ways...
Hahaha I love that song, used to listen to it all the time as a kid I'll have to pull it back out
Justin Russell
You do realize she's a celeb who refused to say who she voted for? She's with Trump.
Alexander Wood
I love Sabaton, OP. Practically all their shit revolves around small groups/individuals pulling off some amazing shit in the face of overwhelming odds. Its motivating as fuck.
>deadlift day is on >shit is fucking me hard >need dat motivational boost >SOMEBODY ONCE TOLD ME >THE WORLD IS GONNA OWE ME >call my mom and tell her about the PRs i just murdered
Caleb Hall
Just discovered Sabaton a week ago and been lifting to it alot now. The Last Stand is an amazing lifting music
OP here, I just recently found out about them, I'm so fucking sad that I havn't been listening to them for longer. By far my favorite is The Last Stand and Shiroyama, and I know what you mean, hearing about the samurai and the group in The Lost Battalion just give me fucking chills. Sabaton has secured a prime spot as lifting music.
Matthew Rodriguez
You do realize some people don't want to share personal information like that?
James Bennett
I have a really strange playlist with songs I would never want to listen to in any other place.
I know, this songs are shit but they push me, don't know why.
Alexander Scott
>For the king >For the land >For the moooooountains >For the green valleys where dragons fly >For the glory, the power >To win the black lord >I will search for the emerald swoooord
Tyler Evans
AHHAHAHAHAHAH
Dominic Sanders
>I don't know how to properly do cardio
What's the point even?
Landon Reyes
Theyre just so fucking singable as well.
>Imperial force defied, facing 500 samurai >Surrounded and outnumbered >60 to 1, the sword face the gun >Bushido dignified >It's the last stand of the samurai >Surrounded and outnumbered
i could be listening to the hypest shit, or white noise, it makes 0 difference in the amount of reps i can get
Matthew Cruz
I think it must be some kind of adrenaline rush that makes me do it. i cant speak for others but for me, some songs, particularly shit like all the sabaton linked ITT that has good imagery associated with the lyrics, they just get me fucking READY. you know? just ready to take on the fuckin world. its almost drug-like sometimes.
the kind of feeling that just makes you want to get up and FUCKING SCREAM. full dragon ball z style. as if i'm about to go fuckin super saiyan or something instead of just being a major autist.
i dont know what id do without music, man.
Ryan Morales
maybe it's because i've been lifting 6 years, but getting hype just doesn't work for me
i am either ready to lift that weight for a certain amount of reps on a certain day, or i'm not
getting excited isn't going to generate more ATP in my muscles and magically lift the weight
thats why i think it might be adrenaline related, because that can definitely help you lift more.
or its just making what i could do anyway more enjoyable. i dont really mind either way anyways, i love the feeling.
Cameron Murphy
fucking gym is running angel. Not even kidding.
I usually ignore the shitty music all together but this actually made me mad. Fucking receptions have nothing to do all day every day, literally sit there and browse Facebook. And then they can't even put together a proper playlist or at least skip the most romantic love song shit.
Grayson Rogers
In the words of Homer. >"Noble and manly music invigorates the spirit, strengthens the wavering man, and incites him to great and worthy deeds".
i've read music does lower your rate of perceived exertion
i think actual strength-enhancing neurally-disinhibiting adrenaline only really applies to life and death stuff
Jaxson Sanchez
Literally just got fucking chills reading those lyrics, when I listen to them I feel like I get an adrenaline boost and can lift fucking anything.
Levi Gomez
I get pumped by all sorts of stuff. Bored so going to find a few. P.S. I never wear earphones because the bass is just not good enough. Get good headphones.
This.. I'm hoping I can find the right music to change it, need the hype on those down days. Sabaton seems rad though.
Julian Sanders
It's hard to explain if you've never had it happen. I've always been able to kind of imagine myself in different scenarios, so when I'm lifting and I'm thinking about being a warrior or a soldier, it's like placebo effect, I know it's not really happening, but it just feels like it is. Its more like a motivation booster then anything to finish my set, I know it can't help me do more reps/weight then physically possible, but the motivation is enough to help me finish when I feel tired or something.
Leo Barnes
I'd reccomend them, all their songs are about like war and battles so lowkey edgy but it gets you in the mood.
Tyler Stewart
I know, dude, I know. I wish I had the words to express the way it makes me feel beyond just AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Its exhilarating.
Camden Garcia

If you like Sabaton, check out Powerwolf. Only other metal band I've found that comes close.
Its like the difference between using a toilet and shitting in a hole youve dug in the ground. A hole is perfectly functional, it serves its purpose, but why would you do so when you've a toilet?
Dylan Bell
This. It's why listening to music is frowned upon by most runners. The majority have shit form because they're too focused on listening. It also ruins the meditative effect running has on the mind.
I'm glad almost all the races I've done has banned them.
Jordan Fisher
>he compares a natural act of shitting to an external stimulus Veeky Forums - Shitty Analogies
Hudson Cruz
Shitty analogy or not, lifting isnt exactly a complex task, why not improve it with good music?
Because it ruins the mood due to distraction. That's the problem with everyone--they always need sone kind of noise or thry go batshit insane. If you need a distrsction, then you are not performing at your best.
>You are a posthuman, a colonizer sent out from earth as a last-ditch effort at human survival after an apocalyptic, religiously motivated war >You were one of few who (involuntarily) had their central nervous system rewired to give you control over terraforming machines the size of megacities; Titans >Indeed, some of these titans /are/ megacities, and they, as well as the people linked to them, are revered as gods >You are attacked by the colonizers of the neighboring planet- they use their titans in the attack >Your planet is, despite your best efforts, destroyed >As you lick your wounds, you swear to get revenge. You are Amyntas, king of titans.
Angel Wood
Dude anytime I'm doing heavy lifts The Final Solution by Sabaton is my go to.
Gavin Nelson
but its not a distraction? i cant lift perfectly fine without it, i just enjoy music as well. and ruins the mood? bruh, what ruins the mood for you doesnt apply to everyone, thats some ego-centric shit right there. it combines two of my favourite activities and creates something greater than the sum of its parts.
if you dont want to listen to music while you lift, then you do you.
So call me trash or whatever but this song really fires me the fuck up during deadlift day. Just how fucking angry he is. youtube.com/watch?v=4IDVtx--w_Y
Anthony Wright
wtf is wrong with you faggots and your heavy metal bullshit
Dylan Reed
better than the usual rap, pop and dubstep that usually floods these threads.
Brayden Wilson
Yes, it is a distraction. The brain cannot multitask despite what people believe. Because of it, you can do better if you learn to focus your concentration on your lifts instead of wanting that temporary distraction that may give you an artificial dopamine boost. You'll lift better in the long run without it.
Ian Murphy
Sucks to be most of us and have to drown out the shitty music in the gym.
Benjamin Wood
Sucks to you for not being a homegym master race.
David Howard
>the brain cannot multitask >despite it literally doing multiple things to communicate on a chinese cartoon image board.
I just wouldn't consider listening to music a high level brain function and therefore is unlikely to impede lifting weights in any noticeable manner
Nathaniel Nelson
What's wrong with it? What do you prefer?
Luis Sullivan
>IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES >IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES >IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES >IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES >IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES >IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES
Nicholas Lopez
Dude im telling you XXXTentacion is the best lifting music.
James Edwards
Practically every article concerning music and lifting says you lift better under its influence, so fuck off with your no frills shit. You are literally that guy that gets snobby over some cunt having a well done steak. No one gives a shit.
Chase Johnson
>I wouldn't But it does. And the more tasks the brain has to focus on van possibly damage it. It's why people who are able to focus on one task are mentally healthier.
>people that listen to music while they lift are weaker and mentally unhealthier than those that do
where the fuck have you got this shit from? literally broscience. give me at least two sources that specifically relates to music and lifting saying that its bad and i'll maybe not think youre retarded.
Daniel Roberts
>pls don't take muh dopamine rush away The same shit drug addicts say. You jist proved my point--take the noise away, you hot batshit insane.
