GSLP has you cranking out AMRAPs really often, for the purposes of getting strong as fast as possible and moving on to a non novice program I don't think it makes sense to fatigue yourself so much for for a negligible increase in volume. It does have some nice ideas though, like FM pushups and chinups, and pressing before squatting might work better for some.

SL has you doing 5x5 squats 3x a week initially, which is just insane when I think back to how hard LPing squats was.

I like GS's flexibility and deloads.

I think the GSLP method of AMRAP works well for someone very early on.
say they start with like, 95 bench and do 3x5, and stick strictly to the 3x5 template, despite having maybe enough energy to get 2-3 more reps on the last set. I definitely look at that as wasted opportunity.
however, that AMRAP doesn't have to be GSLP exclusive. I didn't like that GSLP had you doing deadlifts 1x/week.
There's no good reason that you can't just do SS with last set AMRAP and get those sick CNS gains from 3x frequency squats and heavy/light floor pulls

I'm doing StrongLifts at the moment and it is killer. I've been on it about 3 months now and it is effective. I took a year off of lifting after doing it for 2 years cause I was a bitch. I never thought just doing 3 lifts in a session would leave me exhausted. I recommend it.

the squat volume is fine on those types of programs, deadlifts could use more volume too - maybe 2-3x8-10 RDLs after main set or at the end of the week

definitely increase volume on your OHP, if you can bench 250 but only OHP 140 you need a lot more front delt work and a lot more practice with the movement

instead of doing the GSLP amraps, i would spam a bunch of triples and use a hepburn-method esque progression of volume

the REAL important thing is not to stick with one of these for more than 6 months

I started on Stronglifts for about 2 months, then switched to GSLP. I think GSLP is better for cutting because there's less volume. The AMRAPs are good to catch if you could be lifting heavier (if you get 10+ reps on the AMRAP sets, you can double the weight you add). And finally, GSLP is designed to be very flexible and you can "plug in" whatever kind of accessories or supplemental training you want. I think the author of the program is big on conditioning with burpees and stuff.

Why? Why not just stick with linear progression until you stop making progress? Serious question.

The average fitizen has been lifting 6-12 months and thinks they know more than a strength coach with more years experience lifting and training others than they have years of life. Take advice here with a grain of salt, and seek out material on your own.

GSLP is obviously better purely due to the fact that it has autoregulation.

Autoregulation is not necessary for a novice/beginner. You should be progressing very easily each session and have no problem recovering with such little volume.
