Is it true that during Ottoman era. Greece and Balkans was considered part of the orient / wider middle east?

Is it true that during Ottoman era. Greece and Balkans was considered part of the orient / wider middle east?

I think it was considered the "Near East", the other "Easts" being the Middle East and the Far East.

It's always been, what do you think Eastern Roman Empire comes from

>Greece and Balkans
Are you implying Greece is not part of the Balkans?

Yes, the Orient meant what we today call the Middle East. Note the Orient Express only goes as far as Constantinople, and the Oriental Institute studies the Assyrians.

Middle East was an anglo invention from the 19th century. That's why only brainlets call things "middle eastern.

Contemporary Europeans literally lumped them together with turks
Make that as you will

Turks and balkanians aren't that different from eachother in cuisine, traditional dress, general outlook on life and general culture.

Greece and Balkans and the Ottomans were considered part of Europe

as seen here

turks would be considered european if they were christian

>geography would be rewritten if Turks were Christians

:^)

european as in culturally u cheeky bugger

He said Turks (people) not turkey itself

Stop being morons.

The ones who thought of a 'European identity' in or shortly before the Enlightenment basically thought the native Christians in Asia and Africa were like gypsies.

theres a difference between the civilised people of turkey and some tribal blokes in the kongo

even arabs would be considered european if they were christian

source: malta

Malta is racially and culturally Italian

wtf sweden looks like it is bigger then the rest of europe

>Culturally
Wrong.

Europe is an invention. So is the idea that continents are relevant for cultural relatedness, only incidentally working for europe and the americas and not at all for africa or asia (there's a reason we talk about sub-saharan africa and MENA). The ancient world was a mediterranean world, and we might be talking about an extended mediterranean (including europe, north africa and the levant) if it had had been christian instead of muslim since then.

What is this nonsense?

...

>what is Georgia, Cyprus, Russia
Brainlets on fleek

Every heard of Egypt and Ethiopia? Why are you even on a history board if you can't tell I was talking about them?

but they don't cluster with europeans.

>Turks would be considered as subhuman if they believed in our meme god(s)!!!!!
