Other Hobbies

What other hobbies do you guys have? Right now i'm in an endless cycle of work then coming home and staring at my monitors until i go to bed.

I think I might be depressed because video games and other shit that made me happy don't make me happy anymore. I need to do some new shit to energize myself again, any suggestions because i'm feeling like pic related.

I enjoy collecting stamps from the Xia dynasty

Collecting Veeky Forums screencaps.

bump

I'm writing a shitty medieval buddy cop fantasy novel in my free time

i'm writing a screenplay about medieval cops too but this still involves staring at my pc how can i become more sociable and self fulfilling?

What's your favorite musical instrument? Get one and learn to play it.

Do social things, dum dum

what's a good social thing to do other than gym obviously?

like something that would give me bond levels of charisma if I practiced enough?

Drinking.

shitposting on starwars forums
homework

other than that running is all I have

photography mostly, but because i'm a bit too picky one what i want and don't want to photograph it doesn't take up that much time

it motivates me to go urban climbing and urban exploring more though, as those are my favorite things to photograph.

that and a little bit of drawing/learning the harmonica (yeah i know the instrument sounds like shit, the idea of having a pocket sized music instrument just appeals to me)

honestly hobbies are great, but don't fall into the same trap i have plenty of times where you get so focused on spending your free time doing lots of different hobbies that you burn out and don't do shit for a few weeks.

I mainly browse Veeky Forums(pol and fit), I also read history books and do math equations for fun. Yeah thats about it. I play a bit of vida as well.

I hikie, mushroom hunt for edible mushrooms, fishing, hunting, games, learning unity, and metal detecting and other sorts of treasure hunting.

Why do Golden Retrievers look so forlorn and or depressed Veeky Forums?

Gardening (it's winter here. sad!)

Composing music

Drawing/Painting/Digital art

Vidya

Sports I guess and vidya occasionally also chess.

Cooking now too, I really like to cook and thanks to you lovable group of assholes now I can cook so thanks lads.

Are there even social activities that are actually fun and not an excuse to socialize?

Windsurfing, rugby, snowboarding, cosplay, volunteer work, bass guitar.

>metal detecting and other sorts of treasure hunting

what's the most valuable thing you found?

i don't quite follow user, do you mean are there activities where socializing isn't the main objective?
because if so: these things are called hobbies, and yes there's plenty of fun shit out there

>What other hobbies do you guys have?
I play the piano and paint space marines.

>i don't quite follow user, do you mean are there activities where socializing isn't the main objective?
I think he meant specific group activities that are focused on the activity itself and not focused on meeting people in the group.

Fishing

post your rarest cap

Well hard to say, you hardly ever find stuff worth a lot but I did find a 1904 coin that was gold plated brass. Sadly it was damaged if not it would be worth 50-100 bucks depending on shape.

I have also found a few old items and a gold ear ring which I havent priced I think its just plated. I found a few rings but one is a cheapy the other not sure what it is worth.

Found some civil war horse buckles but they arent worth much at all.

I have found like 20-40 bucks in change.

this

Because they browse this board as well.

noice

expected more tho

Well big finds can be rare but this year I will be going much more than I did before as I have more time so I can hit places that have a chance of more valuable items.

However the shows lie the fun is just trying to find stuff, dont go into a hobby thinking you will get rich, go into it because you like it for fun.

Vidya and reading.

Is watching movies and vietnamese cartoons a hobby?

>places that have a chance of more valuable items

what are those places?

>the fun is just trying to find stuff, dont go into a hobby thinking you will get rich, go into it because you like it for fun

I get it user, I sure would be excited like a little girl at the smallest of finds, expectation is a sweet pleasure

I do aerial silks, which is still a fitness-related hobby but it's really fun, and we do student performances every year. It's only twice a week though.

Old town sites, one that had towns that died out. Old schools and churches and such.

Even a few treasure rumours of jesse james and frank james gold they buried. Which if found is basically im fucking rich retired mode. I amd tracking this and a few others treasure horde rumours down right now.

Also public schools and parks can have rings and such and places that states fairs and events are hosted on can have good finds of dropped jewelery too and of course dropped change.

Fisher f2 is a nice simple machine that is great price and easy to learn and use. No need for something more fancy starting out when this thing does a great job for me so far and I have used a 400-500 dollars machine and in my opinion the fisher f2 is much better.

I have to go for now going to go hangout but if ya see the food picture images I been posting if those are posted it is usually me ask me anytime and if it turns out to be me ill answer any questions.

Also I can respond back to this thread if ya want when I get back in 6-7 hours.

I read. I read 8 books this month, including War and Peace and The Count of Monte Cristo.

I'm working on a webcomic about weight loss, it takes a lot of jabs at fat activists, hopefully it turns out great.

do you have a link or is it still an unreleased brainchild at the moment?

>sharing all this precious information about treasure hunt

say goodbye to all those finds user, already packed food for six months and my brand new fisher f9000

jk nice conversation man you're awesome, some people wouldn't believe the random things you can learn by asking around here

I was just asking out of pure curiosity I don't think I'll get into metal detecting, but thanks anyway for your interest and willingness to share your knowledge, this place needs people like you

Still in the works, i'm hoping to have at least 20 pages done before I start posting it.

Sipping

i'd say start posting ASAP, it'll give you objective feedback.

that said i'm a massive hypocrit that doesn't share his writing with anyone right now because i don't think i'm at a level where reading my pieces is entertaining yet

>tfw New job is 2nd shift five days a week
>tfw literally will so nothing in life but work and lift until I'm 30

I'd feel bad if the alternative wasn't being a penniless NEET but

Fuck this is gonna suck

I'm very near that number, so I should be good. Page after this one is my favorite by far.

Cars, and watching people with more dosh than me racing them.
Guns and militaria too.

Good hobbies but fucking expensive.

I stay up until 2 am watching movies and tv shows

Brother were all in life together, best we be cool to each other.

If ya ever do get into it start with public parks quarters and stuff.

Once found a plactic easter egg full of change was so awesome even though was only 50 cents.

>reading
>video games (CS only)

depends on your location i guess, Florida is just all around based for gliding and water sports.

How's the harmonica coming? I'm also pretty obsessed with pocket sized hobbies in general.

>I think I might be depressed because video games and other shit that made me happy don't make me happy anymore. I need to do some new shit to energize myself again, any suggestions because i'm feeling like pic related.

That's an extremely common flag for depression- I've seen it countless times and it was my waking moment for realisation that I was depressed years ago, despite not being unhappy or hating myself.

The cause and cure for depression are:

>Regular exercise
>Regular sunshine
>Regular social interaction with peers
>Good sleep
>Good diet
>Good stress management

Find out which areas you're lacking in and fix them.

As for hobbies, choose things that fit in a few of those areas- so any outdoor hobby that involves friends/groups of people-
Photography, Sports, Running, Biking, Mountain Climbing, Geocaching etc

I've been getting big into photography, ordering new lenses and equipment lately. Making some side cash taking engagement photos and the like, but all that money just goes towards more equipment.

Who else /trains/ here?

War and peace is a really good serie, im at the second book atm

Hello me

That's all I guess. Plan to do cooking once I move out of the dorms. Oh and not a hobby but I am pretty active in a career club.

Planning to pick up knitting and the guitar if i ever get rid of my porn addiction.

Pen and paper rpg, gotta have thos guns to better rp my barbarian

Decent, I can understand why people claim it's the easiest instrument to learn

I play the guitar a lot, just by myself though not in a band or anything. Purely for my own enjoyment. I like cars too so work on mine occasionally or go for a drive either on my own or with a few other people. During the week it is mostly work - gym - video games (rpgs) or watch a tv series then bed.

Pretty comfy desu, I like my job.

Squirting research chemicals into my ass

fine woodworking
skeet/trap shooting
playing my ukulele
rollerblading
