I was deadlifting at the gym...

I was deadlifting at the gym, and this staff member (old lady) came up to me and said I need to stop because it will damage the floor, and makes too much noise. I have been deadlifting at that gym for over a year and never had any problems before. What the fuck will I do now?

call the manager and get them to explain. If he takes the old lady's side then go somewhere else.

I feel sorry for you losers lifting at such shit commercial gyms

Do it anyway and feign ignorance.

You didn't immediately thought to do what says? Wtf are you 15?

It's very close to my house, that's why I lift there. It's also a very high quality gym otherwise.
She spoke to me right after my set of deadlifts so I was completely out of breath and unable to really say anything.

If youve been lifting seriously for a year in a commercial gym it's time to move on to a specialist gym.

You cant stay in playschool forever

>tfw lift at rec center with a decent gym
>it's mostly "american youths" in the basketball courts and women on the treadmills
>gym is empty most of the time and there are squishy pads that I can use underneath my bar to not murder the floor from my deadlifts.

>unable to really say anything
BETA

You should have just started laughing at her.

Your rage should be apparent enough without being able to talk. Someone tells you that you can't do the thing you've been paying for the whole year anymore, you should act like you're being ripped off, because you probably are. You've paid into their business. Act like it. If they still don't want you doing it, take your money elsewhere and don't recommend the gym.

OP should've asked her "this is a gym, correct? Where am I supposed to do them if not at the place designated for lifting heavy objects?"

Talk to the manager and tell them to invest in a platform

>gym has designated deadlifting platform
>foam cushioning under plates causes bar to sink 2-3 inches

reee

OP is probably one of those guys dropping the weights when mid-air

You'd have to be one passive aggressive faggot to say that. Aside from making you feel smug it would definitely not have achieved fuck all being condescending and shit.

Nope, I kept my grip on the bar the whole duration of my set. No dropping.

Again, if the manager isnt going toallow you to do this move to a different gym. It's a sign that you've outgrown this gym.

Surely theres another one within reasonable driving distance

The issue isn't that you deadlift.
It's that you most probably slam the weight instead of putting it down carefully and in a controlled manner, which actually requires skill and is much harder. Slamming does damage the fundament, is obnoxiously loud and the lady was in the right to point it out.

blow it out your ass dork

He is right about that controlling the deadlift is harder and required skill then just drop the bar a few inches from the ground

Slamming IS avoidable

Would you consider this as "slamming the weigts"? This is pretty much how I do it. Am I just supposed to lower the weight to half just to slow down the barbell on the way down to prevent noise? I've been doing it like this on the same spot at the gym and there is no visible damage on the floor

romanian deadlifts. only one slam per set

And a good way to fuck up your back depending on how slow is "controlled" for you

I'm pretty sure you have to push the weights to slam them even more

Even controlling them will make a noise too loud for people like the old lady if it's iron plates

You can't seriously be suggesting rdls are even remotely a replacement for normal dl.

Tell them to buy pads that protect the floor.

Where the hell do you lift? Planet Fitness?
