>they go over to the barbells, going full csi to find the one and only bb in the gym that isn't hideously bent
>over the past year or so the bars have all been bent as fuck for some reason
>they set up on the only dl "platform" - just a thin rubber mat

>they load up the old school black-iron weights, 10kg on each side
>set up for what looks like deads
>nope, they take turns clean and jerking the bar with the most atrocious form I've ever seen
>as soon as they get the bar overhead they SLAM it full force against the floor
>whole gym is shaking, the vibrations are literally moving stuff on the reception counter 20 meters away

>Look over to new kid
>He unracked all the weight on one side of barbell first and it seesawed into the wall
>Amazed he didn’t break the mirror, kind of wish he did
>Entire gym is staring
>Kid is tomato red awkwardly giving a thumbs up to everyone
>Local asian turbomanlet who only works arms comes over to him
>He tries to blame it on the clip being broken
>Proceeds to go get gym staff and tell them their clip is broken and that’s why it happened
>Crashing 150 lbs onto a little piece of coiled metal isn’t the reason why the clip is broken
>Staffer avoids conflict and just agrees with him
>Later in locker room see same kid
>He tries to sell me the same shit about the clip
>I briefly explain physics

I remember back in my old gym in leafland there was this Arab guy who was a tank with chicken legs, always came and worked just bench press and ohp, but never went above 120kg

I remember one day he brought along with him this dyel looking kid, couldn't be older than 18, around 6' and probably not heavier than 130lbs. For whatever reason, Arab dude who never did but bp/ohp starts teaching him to deadlift, form not too bad but not perfect. See them again 2 weeks later and dyel kid was deadlifting 120kg. No clue what was going on, but blew my mind.

No, I meant that the fact that the dyel kid lifting 120kg in 3 weeks when he started struggling with just 40kg blew my mind. Maybe not that rare, but he didn't do any visible gains those 3 weeks and I then saw him lift 120 like it was nothing.
