Ironic because pepsi was an image of the communist era and got kicked out by coke after the fall of the USSR

Mafia took over

Pepsi moved in hard during the Moscow Olympic games.

The rich got richer.

People loved the idea of change, people hate communism. The capitalist dawn brought hopes of freedom and opportunity to leave behind the horrors of communism.
Unfortynately, the transition wasn't that nice and tyrants like Putin took power.

>pulling shit out of my ass: the post

At one point the USSR sold an entire fleet of outdated ships to pepsi for access to the beverage

Can't make an argument, huh?

Disgraceful.

>On 2 January 1992, Yeltsin, acting as his own prime minister, ordered the liberalization of foreign trade, prices, and currency. At the same time, Yeltsin followed a policy of 'macroeconomic stabilization,' a harsh austerity regime designed to control inflation. Under Yeltsin's stabilization program, interest rates were raised to extremely high levels to tighten money and restrict credit. To bring state spending and revenues into balance, Yeltsin raised new taxes heavily, cut back sharply on government subsidies to industry and construction, and made steep cuts to state welfare spending.

>In early 1992, prices skyrocketed throughout Russia, and a deep credit crunch shut down many industries and brought about a protracted depression. The reforms devastated the living standards of much of the population, especially the groups dependent on Soviet-era state subsidies and welfare entitlement programs.[32] Through the 1990s, Russia's GDP fell by 50 percent, vast sectors of the economy were wiped out, inequality and unemployment grew dramatically, while incomes fell. Hyperinflation, caused by the Central Bank of Russia's loose monetary policy, wiped out a lot of personal savings, and tens of millions of Russians were plunged into poverty.[33][34]

fucking retard
people in russia proffered communism

If the First Chechen War is anything to go by, it was disastrous.

The largest drop in quality of life since WWII.

Yeltsin is one of the worst, if not the worst, elected leaders of all of human history.

Ex-ruling class (who were just ironic communists before) robbed the people's money and got away with it. Also Jews.

The election and polls were rigged by hardliners you dumbass commie.

>elected
more like chosen by the americans

russia didnt get taken over by oligarchs?

He's factually wrong, but it's not like Russian elections could be held accountable or anything, commie.

>I'm a commie for hating Yeltsin
eat shit

It was not good. Respectable people were forced to live like rats, doctors and engineers were unceremoniously fired and evicted from their homes. Drug dealers and thugs became the de facto leaders of the country overnight, lowly crime bosses became millionaires in charge of cities overnight. Food was scarce and many were forced to steal resources to survive. Violence was common, and what little remained of the state was basically incapable of doing anything. Currency became basically worthless coupons, it was a return to feudal trading. Worms managed to climb up into the highest points of society in the chaos, places where they and their cronies remain to this day.

Prove it
