I'd argue that it helped smooth the transition into these things. I came here as a dumb ass kid trying to be edgy and found myself at home in /b/. Over the years, my tastes changed, and the other boards became an easy way to sample different activities and lifestyles until I could find hobbies I enjoyed. Cringey as it is to say, Veeky Forums helped me grow up. I'd probably still be wearing a trench coat and a top hat if it wasn't for this place.

Anyway what I'm saying is that Veeky Forums is mostly a complete waste of time, you do learn some things but you could have learned them A LOT easier by googling "[hobby/interest] forums" or even reddit or something. It's just so much more efficient in every way.

Veeky Forums actually had a really positive impact on my life. Between /g/ (which made me get into computers and now I have hella money) and Veeky Forums (which gave me good resources for getting women and made me attractive) I'm a way better version of myself say, if I had stayed on reddit.
