Chinups are better overall in my opinion especially if you're doing it weighted. All the difference I feel is that my biceps get worked more in it

From oersonal exp. I find it's best to either do one set of each to failure or do 3 sets of each and doing about half or stop a few reps shy of failure.

Bonus points for doing weighted 3x5. Do something heavy and challenging instead of 18 pull ups unless you want to increase endurance

Taking your muscles to failure trains your cns to fail. Maintaining perfect form and speed for ALL your sets with allow for the greatest gains.

Obviously you can make gains by going to failure its just not optimal.
