Where I am you have to get recruited, do training, and if you do college they'll pay tuition but you have to work for them for 7 years. Not an awful deal, but that's very little control I have for a very long time.

I enjoy my freedom and as much as a degenerate as it makes me sound, i like being able to drink and do drugs as i please. I have a cushy office job and as much as it sucks being behind a desk all day, i have spending money and free time. Got plenty of friends in the military and it sounds like they love it but then i hear about their schedule and how much they have to pack everything up and move, and i know its not for me. Family over everything.

I'm actually about to begin my application to the Naval Academy. My university doesn't have NROTC so if that doesn't work out I'm gonna have to wait until graduation to go to Quantico

Depend on ones preferred job and country, the degree one wants may not be offered in military academic institutions. Often they'll just send you out to whatever university you'd go to anyways and pay the tuiton.

I'm told it's worth in insofar as if every other place requires experience in the industry the army never does. If it's a job with very obvious civilian applications, then the army functions as a decent enough fallback if job hunting doesn't work out.

Working on a farm is a great balance between a rough job that forces you to ACT LIKE A MAN, while letting you feel like you contribute to society in a morally positive way.

Dealt with worse things in life than the military could ever throw at me. Due to genetics I got ulcerative colitis and had my entire bowel removed, I have a permanent ostemy. This happened to me at the rip age of 22.
