UK Gyms

Anyone in UK tried one of these gyms?
Been going to Puregym and loving the antisocial aspect of it but my nurse started shilling this place and saying it's better than Puregym because it's cheaper and everyone there is a bit more hardcore and shit

Also getting stuck in one of these is an irrational fear of mine

but it has a womans only section which weirds me the fuck out and makes me expect feminists and lesbians

Anyone been to one?

I still go to one in my area

Pros: heavy dumbells, always enough plates, alot of cardio shit, 4 squat racks, cheap af

Cons: always packed at peak time, full of gym newbies using all the dumbells from 20kg to 2kg for a superset, never see 1/2/3/4 , have to wait for stuff alot

idk puregym seems to be fine, gets a bit busy though. seems that people are either dyel or on gear, few people are inbetween.

At puregym in Newcastle. It's alright at moderate times, but at peak times there's literally a 40 person queue to get in, don't understand how it's possible to workout effectively when it's that busy.

2 bench press stations
2 Power Cages + 1 olympic weightlifting power cage thing
About 3 of those multi side cable things

Xercise4less is such a scam, it's like £60 cancellation fee. That and they absolutely bust your balls if you're ever late on paying a fee

>tfw you finish your workout and you're exiting while someone else is entering

I go to xercise4less in Glasgow, OP. I've had zero issues - the facilities are clean, there isn't a lack of equipment and it seems fairly well maintained. in my 5 months here, i've witnessed 1 broken rowing machine which was fixed the next time i went. The staff are really friendly too, PT's will give you a spot etc if you need it without charge.

that said, i did read a lot of reviews about other branches being really shit for the things i've just mentioned. it seems to vary pretty wildly based on your locale.

I go to a Pure Gym in Manchester and it's full of Instagram fitness models who come in, do a few squats, pose in the mirror, take a photo and leave.

I swear I want to kill myself at the end of every workout. They're just too superior.

Other than that it's great. I don't have to speak to anybody, nobody speaks to me and it's never that busy. For 17 britbongs a month it's a bargain for the city centre as well.

>15 bongs a month
>paying this late

Fucking hell lad, sort your life out. If you end up with late payment fees for such a small amount, you probably shouldn't be paying for a gym at all.

You know you can just jam your number in as quickly as possible and if you do it before them, you get access first.

I like to make it visibly clear that their inability to punch in a number makes me angry and sometimes, I even let out a small sigh.

only 10 bongs if youre a student.

The one on Ancoats?

Fellow mancfag here

Seems like all the same stuff as puregym, much obliged for the intel

All gyms are bad for it but puregym seems beyond retarded- There was a literal queue for a squat rack last time I was anywhere near the afternoon

Yeah and the admin fees and shit make it basically the same price as puregym for me

I like to fart in the booth on the way out- big dirty protein farts. Watching someone clawing at the doors to open and gasping for breath is the best part of my day

10-4. My one just opened a couple months ago so I'm hoping it'll be good for at least the first year
My Xercise4less is £7/month off peak which is basically nothing, and £15 on peak. Is off peak worth it? I rarely come in earlier than 10am at puregym, not enough to justify the extra cash anyway

I pay £10 peak because of a christmas deal or because i'm a student, not sure which one. I usually go at 9am on weekdays as by then all the pre-work goers are gone and the gyms dead and as soon as they open their doors at 8 on the weekends along with like 2 other dudes.

>all these city rats paying >£15 for gym membership

>I pay £30 a month because I live in the middle of fucking nowhere and they know people have no choice

At least it has access to a pool and sauna though

In all fairness, my £10/month is a barebones gym, it has all you need for cardio and lifting, but it doesnt have luxuries like saunas and pools. i'm fairly sure all the branches of xercise4less are like this, not sure about puregym.

I occasionally go to gyms and wow folk with my lifts cause everyone in Scotland is DYEL. Otherwise it's home gym solemn lone training.

i go to total fitness in Crewe. good gym, good equipment, well maintained

full of polish though

Can't even park near my local one at peak time in Stoke.

Never got around to trying in the morning, may go back and see soonish.

like this guy?

Commercial gyms are fucking shit go find a good old school type one ya weapons

>S H A W L A N D S

Going to Gateshead puregym now. Was at the DW nearby by paying double for a gym that was just as busy and had less shit in some cases (1 less bench press, less benches) seemed dumb

>wow folk with my lifts cause everyone in Scotland is DYEL
Isn't it great?

X4less was good for me when I lived in the UK, when it came time to leave I just cancelled by bank account and fucking left lmao

Xercise4less cancellation fee BTFO

Anyone spinningfields?

>Not training at this gym

plebs

Is that the bodybuilding gym near town? I heard it's pretty expensive.

>tfw broke student

you ever been to strength asylum lad?

Not been but I know of it.

I probably should get up there as it's even closer to me.

Enough bars to go around there?

Are boxing rings common in UK gyms? Stateside I think you only see them in specialty gyms.
I suspect insurance issues
at mine i feel like the benches aren't wide enough to support my upper back/shoulders, i can't do BB bench without being unstable as fuck, not sure what else it could be as it's an issue i've only ever had at puregym

on the plus side it's a legitimate reason to not do the most overrated lift

stoke here

which gym's that lad?

Fenton X4L.

I've been around most gyms in the area other than SA. Both Pures are rammed whenever I go in, basebody has been alright the few times i've gone.

dunno. moving stoke at the end of the year. dont know whether to strength asylum or just use the uni gym

All I can tell you about strength asylum is they've got the most big guys. A few of them will hit the casino after a workout and drink protein shakes at the tables.

pure gym is the thinking man's choice

Local gym is a leisure center.

>£25 joining fee
>3 mandatory introductory sessions. £29
>mandatory "fitness wellness key" for £12.
>£29 a month (£45 for over 25's)

Thank god a new gym is opening at the end of April.

I was going to a cheap gym in Chippenham but it was always totally rammed unless you went at unsocial hours. So i packed up my £25pm and built a home gym with my girlfriend. Best thing ever

I go there, never had to wait more than 10 ish minutes for a piece of equipment but i go in the evening

tfw literally no decent gyms where I live, and I only go to Anytime Fitness cause it's 24/7 and cause of work, I sometimes go at 23:00, or 06:00, when pretty much every single other gym is closed.

24/7 massive bodybuilding gym in shropshire when?
