If you're going with really heavy weight, make sure to lock out your knees. This is really good for them. Gives your muscles a good stretch.

Leg press in fine as an assistance/secondary excercise, but it is no replacement for real squats.

Is that from leg press? I feel leg press is a waste of time since compounding gets more muscle in less time.

Can't squat because of a hernia so I really only do leg press (10x10) extensions (8x10-20) for my quads.
