Any UK brahs train at Pure Gym? It's the cheapest gym in my area and 24hr, what's it like compared to more expensive options?

I've been to both PureGym and TheGymGroup, and they both serve the purpose of being a cheap gym with heavy things to lift and drop.

They don't have saunas, pools, or other fun extras, so be warned of that. The ones I've been to don't lack much in the way of equipment, but they tend to only have 1-2 of any machine or rack. Loads of dumbbells though. The PTs are pretty nice, and willing to help if you ask.

Well worth the money, assuming you really don't care about the lack of pools/saunas etc.

>pools/saunas, machines
who gives a fuck? Does it have decent barbells, 50kg+ dumbells or any more specialist training stuff (logs, tyres etc)? That's what actually makes a good gym

I pay 10 a month at GymFit4Less, fukin bargain

Yes, no and no in that order.

I don't really care about the lack of a pool or sauna (too self conscious to take my top of in public anyway). The previous gym I went to literally had only one of everything, one squat rack, one Smith machine, one pull up station, so if someone was using anything you had to wait.

Same at my GymGroup gym.

I train at The Gym Group in Vauxhall. Fucking place is always packed after 5. Mostly with indians and niggers manlets. Quite a lot of hotties though.

you can check online for the equipment that have at each GymGroup (and probably PureGym). Mine is the same as your old one, one squat rack, one deadlift platform, one bench + rack.

The 3 PureGyms I've been to have had 2 squat racks, 2 smiths and 1 cross cable (the huge one that spans the room) and a 1-2 smaller cross cables.
Always in use it seemed, though I nearly always went during peak hours so it didn't help.

If you are really concerned about numbers of equipment, sign up for day (costs like £6) and scope the place out. They are all built roughly the same though, or at least in my city they are.

Who /chatham/ here??

Don't sign up for a day, ring up and tell them you want to check it out, they'll give you a free day pass

Would I need to do some "induction" if I signed up for a membership or would they just let me train?

I've lifted in 2-3 Puregyms, it's honestly garbage, busy as fuck, equipment feels cheap and if you want to do a single Oly lift then best of luck.

The only good things about them are is they are cheap to sign up to and they actually do have a squat rack and not just a smith machine.

I pay an extra 10 quid a month and instead go to a blackiron gym i'd recommend you do the same if you can afford to.

Only if you're below 18 AFAIK.

You can do the induction, but only if you want to. Once you sign up and get the PIN code you are good to go.

The one near me is 24hr so I'm planning on going ridiculously early in the morning or late at night to avoid people.

Any scousers here?

Terrible Gyms for posers who don't even train, just sit on the equipment for 20 minutes on their phones styling their hair then do ten seconds of lifting and repeat the sitting there 20 minutes. You can hardly ever get on the equipment. Just go to your local back alley roiders Gym. It's intimidating at first but you soon realise everyone's cool and all there to genuinely better themselves. Much more friendly and helpful than the pretty boy ego bitches at those chain gyms that 90% teens go to for social gatherings and posing.

fuck me sideways, I'm at TheGymGroup Stockwell

How to find a back alley roider gym? I used to roid and will again in the future.

there are tons of private run gyms in any area just look about / google, etc. i recently found a mint one that's been down the road from me for like ten years that i wasn't aware was even there until last week.

You don't have to roid either, 90% of people that go to those types do I'd bet but everyone has always been awesome. They're more welcoming when it's a private family run business trying to keep your custom.

Those chain gyms are just bullshit.

used to go to PureGym in Cambridge and then Hammersmith for a while. Both were always quite busy after 4pm
now i go to Better in Wimbledon. Its pretty decent, even has an oly weightlifting class

TheGymGroup brum here. back from 2015 when they had £9.99pm membership. it's a terrible, smelly, dirty gym filled with shitskins staring into the mirror, but damn is it cheap

Fucking chavs.

Fucking chavs everywhere.

wheres that m8

I just go to a bodybuilding gym on an industrial estate near to my place of work. It's as cheap as Pure, has good weights and even a lifting platform for deadlifts etc. I'm sure you can find one similar OP.

Need a gym in tameside, any ideas?

The puregym I go to (purely out of convenience) is full of people who look like they are actively making a "Gym fails montage".

It's got lots of equipment, cheap and is 24Hr. If you can go out of peak time you'll be alright

Pure gym in Reading. Better than most others around that price in the area, especially Buzz which is routinely filled with Sandico Lycra full-kit wankers who think they're Ronaldo.

Equipment's the bare minimum but there's lots of space as well as bumper plates and a platform.

Are the PTs included in the price, or pay extra?

Hey brum friend. Recommend it for the price?

I'm skinny fat looking to get into fitness

my gymgroup had all of those things listed
>tfw moved away and now i have to go to a council gym that has less equipment at double the price

Just switched from PureGym to a cheaper one.

Pros:
Cheap
24 hour- I rarely used it but it's good for those random times when you can't sleep or wake up early
Antisocial as fuck- No need to talk to anyone
Clean
Good layout

Cons
Lack of equipment
Ridiculous at peak times and after free classes

More expensive gyms tend to be a bit more exclusive and a bit more about the amenities

Every gym has drawbacks, puregym doesn't really have many
