I don’t know too much about him, but seeing how most people except Zhou Enlai got treated like disposable napkins it’s probably not off too much. Hell, Deng Xiaoping saw his entire career and family crashing down before Mao finally passed on many years later; Point is, if you’re a tough bastard, then there’s only so much your fellow Chinese can do to you aside from killing you off. Xi's China will be what the USSR would have been like if it actually went through with NEP and underwent state capitalism instead of trying to jump straight to communism and Stalinizing.

This is the new wave of real socialism, the wave of socialism that isn't just a euphemism for welfare state or a Soviet satellite state. A socialism that will have learned from the mistakes of the USSR.

The real issue will be succession after Xi Jinping consolidates power and roots out corruption. Will he be a Cincinnatus and step down and hand power over to the workers after his work is done, and be the George Washington of China, or will he try to create a dynastic empire after seizing power like Napoleon?
