She insisted on paying back the billions of dollars debt that was incurred by the former president Marcos, even though she was given the option by the IMF to forego them. It was apparently to show to investors that the Philippines can pay back its debts and attain good credit standing.

She also asked the US forces to close their bases in Clark and Subic and to leave. The US hesitated but after the 1991 Pinatubo eruption, they decided to pull out, because of the severe damage to the bases.

She then mothballed the only nuclear power plant in the country, leading to lots of power outages during her late presidency.

Then there's also the issue with her land reform policies, but that's a story for another time.

To be fair to her, she experienced a lot of coup attempts as a result of the situation at that time. She also had no political experience, since she was essentially just the housewife of an opposition figure against Marcos.
