Not really, on my teenage years I was an anarchist (a cunt), then moved on to full blown communism (still a cunt) in high school and into college, and then I started working and developed a reading hobby, decided to browse Veeky Forums. After a while Veeky Forums was launched, which was quite nice since literature got me really into history, but I'd say Veeky Forums didn't change me ideologically but rather Veeky Forums did, and ever since then my political position hasn't changed much. I don't know about converted, but an early interest in dispassionate history probably inoculated me from any political and religious extremism, especially considering my isolation from community civics and organized faith.

My parents are Muslim, and I moved to the American South at an early age. Obviously I was always at arms length from the Baptist and Evangelical dominated organizations that ran everything, so I just watched and observed without standing out or offending. I was in the prime demographic then for online radicalization into Islamism, but never fell into that scene for a number of reasons. From my experiences with fringe and political Evangelicals, I noticed a lot of similarities that made me uncomfortable with the propaganda. And since I lacked for well-learned Islamic scholars and imams, I relied on academic rigor to defend myself in debates.

Maybe a lot of radicals and activists just want to belong to something that gives them meaning and purpose. I gave up on that a long time ago, however.

I never went full stormfag or denial but I was an incredibly edgy right wing reactionary, pretty much because I just absorbed my parents opinions and only really read stuff that reinforced them so it escalated. I started actually reading and considering ideas I'd once implicitly rejected just because they were liberal, and found that they made sense to me or that I couldn't just reject them.
At the same time anyone else I encountered who was espousing the same reactionary shit I did kept revealing an ethnic cleansing fetish or that they were mostly holding those ideas out of spite rather than any genuine idea of how they'd work, so that combined with the above pushed me into examining what I believed, until I ended up doing a very strong turn. Veeky Forums did play a part since I often saw both sides arguing here, but a lot of it was due to friends.

Ultimately the two fed into each other and I began seeing how the establishment political factions and institutions enable and enrich evil in my country, the recent U.S election basically proved it to me, with Hillary failing to win an incredibly easy election and Trump actually exploiting the public's anger about the state of things despite being a part of the class that caused it. Veeky Forums also helped this process but the ball was rolling beforehand. I should probably note that I'm not fond of Leftypol people and I am not a Marxist.
