Honestly, what gives me the most historical feels is thinking of all the stuff I'll never get to know. I'll get enthralled in a text and quickly become filled with questions, only to spend hours on google and google scholar, getting slowly dragged back into reality: it's gone.

This is what really makes me think, all the thousands of years of history that we know extremely little about because there are no records that survived, and all the shit that was built and written and produced in the past that exist now only as fragments, or references made in other sources and contemporary documents. It's insane to think how much history has been lost even just 100 years ago, which will likely never be recovered.

Yeah, it's amazing how little history actually remains when you get deep enough into it to recognize all the sources historians use to reconstruct the past. Like how most of are records of major Roman emperors are from the biased accounts of one or two senators. The same is true for much of the accounts of Ancient philosophers and their works. That's what thing that sucks as a historian, you realize how much information is lost forever, no matter how much you wish it to not be the case.
The good thing is that with new technologies like LIDAR we are uncovering some amazing new archaeological discoveries, but sadly this probably won't result in any major discoveries of written sources.
