weightlifting, as a sport, is fucked already. rampant and i think usually unregulated use of steroids has made this sport into a joke. anyone crying about this being unfair must also be in support of stringent drug testing rules for each participant of the sport. basically meaning that if this woman is told she has an unfair advantage because of her past hormone levels, that the same must be true for each participant.

speaking more broadly, about sports in general, i would say that this should be allowed if a tran woman has hormone levels in line with cis women. i never did sports as a kid except for like really young stuff when the genders were mixed anyway, but like.

i'm 5'6", and weigh 120lbs with a slight frame. after being on hormones for just a few months i had shed most of my muscle mass. should i not be allowed to compete in women's sports? there are plenty of women naturally stronger than i am, with many of them being born with genetics that are simply better suited for sports.

sports have never been fair. people are born to be taller, faster, stronger, etc. than others. we don't try to handicap or disclude them for this. honestly we usually celebrate them for their genetic advantage, and trans people should be no different. it sucks being trans and if some transwomen have an advantage in sports i say give them this. it won't hurt anyone to let them compete.

transmen should compete with the other men, and transwomen should compete with the other women.

This is why we have weight classes and sports are divided into men and women in the first place.

i feel like hormone levels are a decent marker, for most trans people. my test is lower than the normal range for cis women, for instance.

the test was prescribed by a doctor out of a medical need. and he still has to compete with girls because texas is ridiculous.
