You should read some Stoicism texts (I recommend something modern that sums up Marcus Aurelius, Zeno of Cetrium and Seneca), then I'd add Revolt against the Modern World and then Ride the Tiger.

It'll make you tough as nails (or at least aspire to be, which is the first step), that will give you a tremendous confidence boost in everyday life.

So if you're a 6 in looks, then yes being well read and being able to converse about it, etc. might bump you up to a 7. If you've actually WRITTEN something of note, to an 8 or even 9 depending on how good/famous the work is and with a Nobel prize you could be a 2 and still score.

Same with everything else. Will playing the guitar get you laid? No, but it'll get you from 6 to 7 if you play in a local band, to 8/9 if you're notable and good, and if you play lead guitar for Metallica you could be a 2 and still score. He wasn't ENDORSING a bleak, materialist, existance without anything spiritual or human in it: he was using a materialist approach to show how terrible capitalism was because he wanted his critique to be scientific and not based on fee-fees, and capitalism operated on materialist terms. That does not mean that he didn't share such feelings; in some of his writings a very romantic and almost spiritual vision of a society free from capitalist chains emerges. He just wanted the critique to be robust.

art of war is very abstract, but it's a good book on successful mindsets and how seemingly difficult things can always be broken down into smaller, accomplishable things. If you can't extract this much from it, maybe you're meme tier yourself

the other book is somewhat more objective but it lacks some fundamentals. its still worth a read tho
