Doesn't look that hard to be honest, could od all of these pretty easily. I'm currently getting ready for the SOF pipeline in my country so i'm working with this BUD's program which is the definition of brutal

Whats a basic rundown of the program?

How long did your ruck take?

It takes you from 0 to BUD's fit.
quite complicated but to break it down you will be doing push and pullups etc as supersets such that you will be able to complete 400 pushups, 400 situps, 150 pullups and 15 miles running a day. Also lots of swimming (since it prepares for BUD's) involved and some lifting.

Worst time of my life involved a 25 mile hump through the desert with main packs. I also had to carry the .50 Cal receiver too. Fuck that shit

What does it say in terms of building up your running? Im good on pushups and situps, run times are decent but its just distance that gets me

>CSCS
>Culinary Specialist Senior Chief
rofl

Starts with 15 minutes run and ends in superset of 4 miles run, 3000 meters swimming followed by 3 miles run. It'll definitely build endurance

Fair enough, ill give it a look

planning to join infantry or something?

Already in the army mate

MOS?

Whats the heaviest ruck you do in the schedule?
30kg is a little bit on the lighter side

British army, royal signals

35P equivalent reporting in.

Yesterday i overheard two RAF sergeants crying about PT lol

Does the Air Force catch shit in every military around the world?

Kek, the farthest they go is probably 1x sprints from the billets to the NAAFI

Pretty much. Then again anyone who isnt a frontline combat role will get shit from those who are

>laughing at the Seal who knows about proper nutrition
baka desu senpai

OP here
what company were you with?
advice?
thoughts?

je parle un petit peu francais, je habite l'australie

i am aiming to leave in 6 months

I agree, its not that its insanely difficult - its mostly that its completely and utterly different to the bulking / strength routine ive been on for the past 6 months

2.5 hours. 30kg is heavy to me. finished strong though, then went for a swim.

Hey man, that's a pretty decent time if you're starting out.
As far as weight goes, if you want to save yourself some injuries, only stomp heavy once a month at max that way you get a feel for the weight.
The rest of the time, try push for sub 9min km and stomp up some big as hills.

Worked for me training up for selection.

30kg ruck + weapon and helmet is the most legionnaires will have to carry, not included the machinegun which is passed around in shifts.

its not the weight, its the distance (120km for a raid march) and the conditions (constantly starving etc.)

cheers

I am strong and tough as fuck, I just need to ditch a little extra fat i picked up on this bulk and swap my strength chinups for endurance chinups... I think Im gonna be alright

How hard was it to be in the top ten at the farm? thats what Im shooting for.

Obviously it depends on the quality of your group though...

>weight
yeah, next round im definitely dropping it to 20kg. I just wanted to start on 30kg and get a feel for it. It was pretty heavy to me, but it was also my first time

thanks for the kind words and advice user

I'm an ausfag friendo
Don't know shit about the farm.
As far as 2cdo selection went, fitness definitely wasn't everything.
It's pretty well just a mental game, but any fitness you do have is money in the bank as it helps put off that mental fatigue a little bit longer.

ausfag also mate - would join aussie military but i know loads of grunts and NCOs, and nobody ever gets to see any real action.

Thats my rationale for heading to france.

Also, i enjoy getting the shit kicked out of me on a routine basis.

>fuck, 2cdo
thats pretty goddamn decent though
did you get to get in the fight?

Got through selection, blew out my knee on rio.
5 months and I'll be back on.
In all honesty selection wasn't that bad. Recon course was harder fitness wise.
Good luck with the french friendo, shit sounds fucking brutal.

/bump/

any past or present legionnaires got any advice for a nigga?

anyone heading to Aubergine sometime soon?

Dont ruck.
It will fuckup your knees

b-but i have to ruck senpai

Walk with a cane at 35 then.

i-is that what you're doing?

My dad yes.
Hes 50 and cant even go for walks now.
Army is shit and for retards.

fuck you, im rucking

2 hours 30 for 15km is pretty good with 30kg, try and work on getting that time down. I do 5 miles (8k) in under 55 minutes with 20kg and some pretty big hills.
Maybe drop the weight down a bit, find a good cross country route and just practice maintaining almost a speedwalking pace, with some running/shuffling sections every mile or so. Try and shuffle up the hills for dat cardio and to shave time off, DONT run down hills because all youre doing is smashing the weight down on your knees and ankles. Once youve got yourself a good pace of 4-5 miles an hour consistently, then start adding more weight and see how you maintain it.
Not sure how itll be with you but in basic our first tabs were the worst because people kept slowing down then others would have to run around them to keep formed up, so on top of a speedwalking pace you had to do little sprints to overtake people every few minutes. If you can get to the front and stay there thats the best place to be.
Best of luck mate

thanks for the advice user !

theres a cross country hill / track near my house that inclines for like 2km... i wanna start going on that, but im afraid for my knees (2km uphill = 2km downhill, hard dirt not grass)

maybe ill just run on that thing, and go fully cross-country for the rucks

however..
>should i stop lifting legs?
>should i stop doing heavy sets?
what do you do?

Foot care is key. Learn how to strap your feet and take care of blisters.
Get used to rucking and running with a weapon. Since you're an ausfag get a lump of steel that weighs the same as what you'll be carrying and paint it bright yellow to avoid pic related.
Since you're non military training to go military, try get your hands on the boots that you'll be wearing so you can get used to them.
I'd say wear a helmet but unless you're rucking somewhere you'll never be seen I wouldn't risk it. You'll either look like a full autist or get arrested.
Borrow a friends webbing or wear one of those weight vests to get used to how a plate carrier will distribute weight and heat you up.
Learn to enjoy pain I guess?
Also invest some time into learning how to care for your knees and back.
Proper pack setup is fucking ace and will save you a lot of pain. I'm pretty sure mystery ranch has some videos on how to do it.
Also learn to enjoy pain I guess?

Agree with him, my parents backs and legs are fucked now, puts them in shitty moods as well, being in constant pain.

Saying that though, alan thrall put out a decent looking training plan not long ago for this kinda thing

i have a set of aus. infantry gear and boots, i lived withsome grunts and an NCO a year or two ago and they gave me a bunch of gear (good guys, but they are part of my reason for not joining ausfag army.... they see zero action)

thanks user, im googling mystery ranch right now...

cheers for all helpful responses, and yeah im planning to ruck somewhere i'll only encounter hikers and stuff. Helmet sounds like a bit much though. a bit of lead sounds alright though! i'll look up how much the modern FAMAS weighs...

im joining the goddamn french foreign legion man. back and leg pain is not my biggest issue. kek. im not exactly thinking in the long term here, friend. thanks though!

Why do you want to join? The legion today is not the legion 20 years ago

No worries mate. Try and find the softest route you can ground wise, i.e dont go running with weight on tarmac, i buggered my knee doing that and was out for a few months. Id recommend any sort of nature/cycling/hiking paths; if you want to to that 2km incline either speedwalk with decent weight or jog it with very light weight (i.e a backpack full of books).

In terms of legs it really depends. I used to bodybuild and could front squat 180kg ass to grass, I have freakishly strong legs. Nowadays all I do for my legs is running, cycling/spinning, bodyweight squats and squat jumps as well as sprints. Hill sprints with a rucksack of books is a god exercise for legs.

If you want to keep training legs gym wise, maybe do tabata sets of box jumps, lunges, squats and squat jumps; either that or get to a point where you can squat your bodyweight equivalent on a bar for 15+ reps. Id say the same with other major compound exercises; be able to deadlift your bodyweight x 15, benchpress your bodyweight x 15 etc. You can absolutely get by with just bodyweight exercises and calisthenics but it does get boring, I sometimes sneak onto the bench for a few sets.

Like the bloke below said, footcare is really important. Dont do your boots up too tight, make sure to tape up your toes and heel if theyre prone to blistering, tape up your ankle if its a bit weak. Change socks as soon as you finish your tab, make sure you dry your feet off properly and take care of any blisters. Im sure you know most of this anyway but just in case. Im sure youll crack it mate, you seem to have the motivation and thats pretty much all tabbing is about.

Is 2cdo tier 2 and SASR Tier 1 or are they both tier 1?

Exactly, he wont get bummed by ex cons when the NCOs arent looking..

Because if i am in the top 10 recruits on the farm i can choose my company. If that happens, I can choose a company garunteed to get deployments.

Because I wanna see action, which I wont get in the Aus military. I wanna develop my skills and gain new ones. Go to different countries. Join a family.

>is that the right answer Mr Recruiter sir?

80% are dudes from a shithole country who basically have no choice but to stay even if they hate it. I don't know if i would like to be in such an environment.

So i guess 2REP and then GCP right

Cant be worse than prison, and I was near the 'top of the heap' there. Doesnt worry me.

I know 2REP is what everyone says but.... i mean yeah I'll shoot for 2REP, of course.

But I would also like to be in a company where I can use my scuba diving experience too.... frogmanning seems pretty fucking GOAT to me (am a scuba instructor / freediver and fucking bored with the tourism industry)

If the marine combat engineers are likely to see action I'd be keen to be in there too. But 2REP is the goal. You know, death from above, and all that, chaps....

GCP would be the ultimate goal... but lets see how i do on the kepi blanc first ;)

Id rather get arseraped once in prison by dudes with improvised shanks than become the unwilling cumdumpster for a group of dudes with rifles and militsry kit that I have to stay with for 5 years and could frag me so easily

prison isnt the way you think it is, and i doubt the legion is either.

they fully fucking flip out over homos and shit. personally i couldnt give a fuck whether someone prefers sausage or taco, but i dont see that happening in the FFL mate.

For fucks sake, you dont have the right number of creases in your shirt and they might throw you in military prison, literally.

This.

You'll spend your five ears cleaning, ironing and becoming an alcoholic

*years

...not in 2REP tho, i believe.

Any former FFL wanna chime in here or something.... I cant talk from experience. Can you?

Good friend of mine spend 5 years in 2REI, so i know a little bit.

> you dont have the right number of creases you might end up in prison

In the UK it isnt that bad, (although the right number of creases is 0..). Youd go jankers or full on military prison if you were caught stealing shit, drink driving on base, assaulting an SNCO/officer etc. Any sort of lack of turnout or discipline and youll just get a solid beasting.

Fuck.. I was told 2REI is the best company to join to see real combat, and 2REP is the best to be an elite and see combat.

seriously?

I've heard the same with the legion, you may have the option to take the beating or the MP time. No problem with getting beat up.

He was only deployed once and rest of the time he tried to stay out of trouble and not becoming an alcoholic. Also if you want to leave after 5 years and not extend, they will basically treat you like shit in your months (even worse then before)

how old are u man?
read trough and cervanes forum and r/frenchforeignlegion on reddit before planing anything
if u do go
watch out in Marseille
pretty dangerous for wannabe leggionares who dont have anywhere to stay

so it sounds like 2REP or nothing then...... damn son. That sucks ass for him.

I know that 2REP can get up to 2 deployments a year, potentially.

>thanks for the advice user, genuinely; but this only steels my determination to be in the top 10 and get into 2REP

Who knows? maybe I'll meet a nice french girl and stay in france. I cant predict the future.

Im 27, ex-boxer, seafarer. I have a friend in france I can stay with.

I've been reading cervanes, and cheers for the advice. Decided to ask on Veeky Forums too because.... you never fucking know who or what you will find here.

>thanks for the advice user, genuinely; but this only steels my determination to be in the top 10 and get into 2REP

I wasn't going to talk you out of it just sharing my infos. That being said i bet it will be pretty cool in 2REP especially if you make it to GCP

its really truly appreciated, vous tous! (all of you!)

good luck man
i tried joining when i was 18(21 now)
got sent back home to do some medical test
did them but decided not to return
will try for SF here
how did ur family take ur decision?
i also read that they sometimes send to 2rep by punishment because theres not enough people applying for it

>SF

USA?

thanks user
what medical test?
and where is home for you?

>punishment
why 2REP for punishment? do you mean because those people dont want to fight?

>family
they are understanding. I have been out of home since I was 15, so we regard each other as adults for a long time now. They helped me alot when I was in prison (god bless them) - but they know that when I set my mind to something I will always acheive it.

My mum just said "Dont die" haha she is a drama queen.

ok, to keep this Veeky Forums related:

how do i change my weight training for a military application?

I currently do alternating low-ish volume (5 x 4) and hypertrophy (5 x 8)

Does this mean I need to change all of my working sets to 12-15 reps or something?

Should I still include some strength? Or use these coming months to just cut cut cut

Thoughts appreciated

nope
croatia
my EKG showed some deviations
they sent me to a private doctor in aubagna but they all had waiting lists so had to check it home
it was nothing anyways
2rep is supposedly(read it online) punishment regiment nobody wants to go there because its in the middle of nowhere and most guys there are in it for the money and not for SF action

really depends on your MOS

But 2REP isn't SF

I love mirko cro cop by the way wasn't he a commando too?

If you want to see action I dunno why you wouldn't just hop on a flight to Syria and join the peshmerga or whoever. Spend six months out there, guaranteed action, then get the fuck out of there and go back to real life.

damn son, thats confusing... everything i have read on cervens says otherwise about 2REP.

MOS?

>no training
>shitty resources
>even more difficult language than french
>gain zero skills, except for getting into some fucking gnarly shit
>i wanna jump out of planes

FFL will potentially allow me to use my scuba experience, boating experience, will really test me as a person and what my physical and mental limits are.

Assuming you were serious, wouldnt joining the peshmerga as a foreigner pretty much just mean being a different-coloured meat shield to the others?

For me personally, everything I do is endurance, stamina or max performance related. If I do use weights, I go minimum of 12 reps but usually more like 15.
Lots of bodyweight; I can easily do sets of 20/30 push ups up into the 300 total range when i just start getting bored. Ive started doing it in a 10kg vest to keep it interesting. Lots of sit ups, planks, leg raises and flutter kicks too, as well as changing up wide grip, underhand and overhand pullups.
Ideally you want to be able to run 1.5 miles in under 10 minutes, do 70 push ups in 2 minutes and the same with sit ups. The better your run time the better off youll be.

Tabata is a good way of smashing yourself. So ill do for example half an hour of tabata which includes sprints, push ups, sit ups, 15kg plate raises, farmers walk, squat jumps, calf raises and high knees/heel flicks. Then ill finish off the session with a hundred or so push ups, some more abs, some pull ups and a 1.5 mile run at a decent jogging pace, coming in around 10:30-11 minutes.

Battle PT is also a great workout. Get a weight vest or a decently heavy backpack (or both) and use that. My battle PT includes a 10kg vest and 10kg pack and I do 10 sprints, and then intervals of sprints with either push ups, squats, squat jumps or burpees after each sprint. After ive done each one of those, I go back to the start, shed a piece of kit and go again. So 1st set is vest and pack, 2nd is vest, 3rd is pack, 4th is without either. You can make up your own workout dependent on what you have to hand, just make sure you work hard.
My ethos is the harder I train and the more uncomfortable it is, the more comfortable it is when I have to do it in combat/under stress.

>MOS?
Your Job duty, like infantry or EOD or chair force

>everything i have read on cervens says otherwise about 2REP.

I would rather trust those guys because there are verified ex legionaires

i mean not sf but more elite
i meant as in guys with a hard on for operators or guys who want action like op

yea he was anti terrorist unit lucko
bad ass guys heard a lot of stories about them
some good some bad

Sounds like my prison routine, if you dont include the running. But the only reason we even lifted then was to be more intimidating than the next guy... fighting ability had nothing to do with it.

tabata sounds fucking good. once I get through 3 months of OP pic related ill still have 2-3 months left to fine-tune. Could definitely be a go-er.

>vest workout
reminds me of something we did called 'pyramids'. fucking crazy effective.

>its ebay o'clock anons

>damn son, thats confusing... everything i have read on cervens says otherwise about 2REP.
i think i read it on cervenes
i mean theres a shit ton of slavs and latin americans only there for money
makes sense if u dont like them and 2rep needs to be filled to send to a island next to afrika where theyll have brutal conditioning

point taken. if its the only path to GCP though, i guess 2REP is where I want to be.

will you go again for FFL user?

Have fun breaking your back with all those situps and getting low T from overtraining.
youtube.com/watch?v=GP_0BhCw2rg

Yeah tabata is great if you dont have much time to workout but still want to thrash yourself. Battle PT is a great way of getting knackered and acclimatising to working with weight on you.

To be fair most 'operators' are pretty prison mode, not huge just wiry and able to keep banging out reps. Its quite a common thing for the huge muscly blokes to drop out and the small wiry dudes just keep cracking on. As long as you can throw your own bodyweight around pretty easily and handle yourself with a bit of weight, youll be cushty.

maybe ill see where life takes me
good luck on your journey mate

You are doing a lot of things but you are sure as fuck not doing tabata so stop calling it that

damn, i knew this conversation was way too constructive
>MUHHH TEST
never change, Veeky Forums

this is the golden nugget of advice i was looking for; fuck yeah.

I can do my bodyweight in all main lifts for reps - so this is what ill focus on, for high reps. maybe some hypertrophy.

The dude who developed the original program in OP pic made it purely for those wishing to join FFL and condition themselves for the farm - lifting was 'forbidden' (old school dude) but fuck that.

I love my lifts and dont intend to give them up entirely, even after basic is over! I may even stay in Australia until my gym contract runs out, just so i can milk every fucking drop and be in the best condition possible when i arrive in aubergine.

If you see FFL progress threads in the next few months, chances are its me lads.

Do this and you'll make top 10.

Good luck in Lasagna

Tabata: 20 second workout sets with 10 second rests in between, usually done for 6-8 sets per exercise and usually 8 exercises.
Nowhere did I say what tabata consists of, I was explaining other routines. All I said about tabata is that it is a good way to thrash yourself, and that an example of my tabata routine would start with sprints, push ups, sit ups, farmers walk, squat jumps, high knees/heel flicks etc, which are the exercises I do in a tabata session.

Please, oh mighty lord of tabata, inform us mere mortals of our wrongdoing.
