This is a quarter squat, it's bad because the load will be on your knees because you're stopping short of going all the way down so that the weight can be transferred fully to your glutes/quads. If you do it like this your knees will hurt and you will get little to no glute development.

I have some scare tissue in my left knee from a car accident when I was really young. If I reverse the motion (start the concentric) anywhere other than a paused ATG I get a shitload of pain in it. But I've been lifting for 2.5 years now and can only squat lmao2pl8
