Can anyone suggest some solid literature to motivate a lifting lifestyle?

I used to lift to let off steam from shit that pissed me off.
But now I'm quite comfy and shit doesn't upset me anymore. And I've lost all narcissism and competitiveness along the way. And lifting for grills just isn't enough.
Meaning I need to get motivation from the inside somehow. But I feel quite uninspired.

Something along the lines of pic related or IRON AND THE SOUL
by Henry Rollins and MINDFUL: Against the Ordinary Language: The Language of the Body — Kathy Acker.

Henry Rollins

Already part of the library.
But I need more that somehow hits closer to actual physical work.
I've read some martial arts stuff. Close but no cigar. That's all just getting fit for the sake of some sport.

I need something about getting fit for the sake of getting fit.

The rise and fall of the third reich is completely objective, it makes no effort to glorify or hide actions.
Mein kampf Is the story of a homeless person who conquered all of europe, and one of the most influential books of the 20th century.
The way of men has the right idea, but its pretty fucking gay desu.

Stripped from romanticism and read in German, Mein Kampf is also quite gay desu.
Also, it's technically the ramblings of a failed terrorist in prison.
Also the Little Red Book was arguably way more influential.
There might be some interesting stuff in yoga literature.

I don't know if existentialism interests you at all, but I really liked the Myth of Sisyphus by Albert Camus.

Basically Camus believed that conscious existence is inherently absurd and the only way to protest against the absurdity is to accept it for what it is. There is no inherent meaning to anything we do and only by accepting that can we find peace.

The act of lifting is inherently meaningless. It may prolong your life through various means, but eventually you will dye. One you accept that all your goals are meaningless you can come to enjoy the struggle itself ave laugh at the universe for it failing to break you.

existentialism is shit tier philosophy.

For the military fags or apsiring wannabes

Continental philosophy isn't really my cup of tea, to put it lightly.
I'm pretty much through with all essential European philosophy. Right now I'm exploring Buddhist thought, with an emphasis on Pali Canon and Zen.

Military stuff doesn't do it for me. (Feel free to post anyway, if it helps anyone tho.)

This is some 14yo tier shit right there so I literally never say it irl or even here but that's literally the only valid point of view. I'll shit on people who say that usually, and I'll spout some bullshit along the lines of "hurr durr ofc there's a point, win the race war spread your seed muh cavemen DEUS VULT" then I'll call them an faux deep "intellectual" libtard. But I actually agree. I don't know why I do it anymore.

>obligatary spook meme

No but honestly. This is not a thread about becoming well-read or finding muh ideology.
I want some good books specifically dealing with a fit/strong lifestyle as a virtuous lifestyle.
Ideally without modern cringe self-help shit.
Read
then Schopenhauer, skip Nietzsche, realize Schopenhauer had found the solution in Eastern Philosophy. And then read Husserl instead. Maybe some Heidegger. If you reach Hegel, you've gone too far. If you hit Zizek, abort mission and cleanse yourself with some Russell.

>literally committed sudoku after being bullied by a bunch of soldiers

Actually it's a good read for inspirational purpose. And you need to fuck off back to /leftypol/ , tankies are scum. At least the Nazis lift in prison.

What's the point of reading philosophy desu? Isn't it a bit useless? Philosophy, along with math, is the only thing you can build basic knowledge in without any resources other than common sense and the willingess to ask yourself questions. Same thing can't be said of most other subjects. I mean you might not have the correct vocabulary of formal philosophy but still, if you make the right distinctions, use the right definitions and use sound logic (also means being self critical and not fooling yourself with fallacies) you'll end up with to the right conclusion. It's a much more interesting process than cucking yourself with the thoughts of others.

If you managed to get motivated by animal comparisons, that's fine m8.
No need to get upset.
There is a safespace on this website, if you need it.

>What's the point of reading
>As long as you sound logical you'll be fine

Goddamnit Veeky Forums

The sad thing is: I've been on Veeky Forums long enough to know that this might be a real person.

Why do you feel that way? I think a lot of people get their perception of existentialism from either hedonist existentialists or nihilist, both of which are primarily compromised of edgy teens who read the sparknotes for nausea and thus spoke zarathustra and called it good.

Basically I like existentialism because I don't believe in God and find it hard to find inherent meaning in the universe. Existentialism basically says you're allowed to create your own meaning, even if it really is your own and not some objective goal we all should be striving for. So essentially accept that inherent meaning doesn't exist and then follow whatever ethics you feel are best.

>A communist talking about safe spaces

/leftypol/ gives out perma bans like candy, /pol/ is the wild west of boards. They literally had to make a new continent board just to crack down on the shitposts in a former containment board's containment board.

Of it weren't for that, Veeky Forums would be nothing but holocaust posting

Because there is more in the realm of philosophy than theism and continental existentialism, m8.
Trust me, I remember the day they tried to shut down /pol/ aka poppet that festering cyst.

Also how exactly did you get it in your head that I was a communist?

ITT: Jelly brainlets who need to read books in order to feel smart
feels good to know I can form objectively valid ideas without cucking myself into learning a bunch of exotic words and pray people won't understand and think I'm right, when really my brainlet mind is incapable of deriving correct ideas from all my knowledge.
tl;dr: when will you learn?

woops wrong post, meant damn seems like I'm the brainlet here. If only I had read all those books.

Little red book is a maoist so I thought you were trying to get some foods old tankie vs fascist banter. Just remember, /pol/ isn't a safe space from the internet, THE INTERNET IS A SAFESPACE FROM US. THIS IS OUR WORLD, NIGGER, OUR WORLD.

But yeah /pol/ basically infects everything after awhile.

only acceptable motivation story

Dude, you literally just admitted to "not needing to read anything else" than the magic words of some dated French and German dudes. (Who, by the by, were all quite unhappy, regardless of how much they feigned pseudo-stoicism.)

Might want to rethink your position here.

I didn't. I don't read philosophy anymore. Actually I don't read at all except for maths textbooks about things I couldn't cope up with. But philosophy as a formal science is litteral wankery by brainlets who have nothing else to do.

Plato's Apology.

No, I was merely pointing out that Little Red Book (like many other communist manifestos) are objectively more influential than Mein Kampf. Heck, Mein Kampf isn't even really that interesting to read for historical reference. The speeches are more than enough.

Also I'm voicing the opinion that this whole NS romaticism is overrated as fuck. Honestly. I've read most books, listened to most speeches and seen most movies. It's just propaganda, m8. That isn't that special.
To me, when you say "Mein Kampf" is inspiring, is like saying Erdogan or Kim Il-Sung is an inspiration.
I genuinely think it's just muh edginess. /pol/ exists for the same reason /leftypol/ exists. Because radical(ly outdated) political positions are edgy and maybe even a little relaxing in a time of very complicated and exhausting issues.

Whatever. Rant done.

Fuck. I've been baited.

I'm trying to get you to learn user. Philosophy is the brainlet equivalent of a manlet pit. It's not as bad as Economics/Politics but still.

I am a dyel Veeky Forums fag that tries to become Veeky Forums, so I know about as little about lifting as you about reading, but damn. Why do you Veeky Forums fags have such shit taste?

You should obviously read the Greeks, but why has nobody here mentioned actual classic lit such as Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Nabokov, Schiller, Goethe, which are all authors that are excelent for newcommers to start with serious lit? Reading Stirner without having read Kant, Schopenhauer and the Greeks is like doing Crossfit and trying to lift weights way to heavy for you, you do more bad then good.

reading is like not lifting weights at all, i.e. you accomplish nothing. all reading, ALL of it, is escapism for manchildren.
welcome to Veeky Forums

t. brainlet

If you actually read and analyze books you will be overall smarter and more experienced as a person. If you skim through a book without actually having one serious thought about anything, then yes, it's a waste.

>I-I think I can!

When you need help on dat last rep

>If you actually read and analyze books you will be overall smarter
>brainlets will believe that
fucking kek. you still haven't learned have you? it's over. intellect is genetically determined. you were born a brainlet, there's no way out.
also
>needing a book to have thoughts
brainlets disgust me

t. double digit IQ brainlet coping
Saying that intelligence is genetically determined is like saying muscles are genetically determined, it is only true for your genetic MAXIMUM. If you don't do anything with your godlike genetics in either intelligence or muscles you'll just be another brainlet/fat fuck.

You're right, but you're arguing against a b8ing troll

cleary books didnt work for you. cool. now fuck off brainlet

literally tested 142 IQ tho. granted that was when I was 6yo but to this day I still exhibit a wide variety of non-brainlet traits that allow me to not concern myself with the cuckoldry that is reading fucking books lmao. I spend my whole days sleeping, eating and (as of recently) lifting and when I show up to the test guess who gets the best grade again? That's right, the brainmore does. Not the overcompensating, book reading cuck brainlet lmao. (actually that's not true anymore I no longer go to tests since being a brainmore has made me so lazy but that's beside the point).
>mfw I know I could do literally anything I want if I ever want to do anything
feels good to not be a brainlet. still a motivationlet unfortunately.

>he studies brainlet garbage
Feels good being a 135 IQ Med student with a full grant that will earn 300k once he finished school

Maybe that's the difference between a reader and a non reader

>he posts his "IQ"

so the difference between the reader and the non reader is that the latter scores higher on IQ tests and is thus objectively smarter? sign me up for non reading f a m.
You don't get it do you? It's over for brainlets. I could do anything. I could get into literally any college that I want. Med students are fucking brainlets, it would take me one month to catch up on their knowledge and in the end I'd come out on top. Why, you ask? Because of my GENETICALLY DETERMINED IQ. What's hard to understand, brainlet?
Also where the fuck in that post did I say what I studied? I study maths btw so I know a thing or two about abstact reasoning unlike a fucking med student of all people lmao.

And yet here you are, shitposting on a Guatemalan Donkey Breeding board

>maths
Might as well have said that you're studying to become unemployed

Oh look, it's the "high-IQ tested as a youngster" guy

He reminds me of an autistic kid that I had an engineering course with. He swore he's a genius, and yet he failed the course. Made me think

Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl?

He who has a WHY can bear any HOW. This is a quote from Nietzsche but his philosophy was against nihilism. He finds it unhelpful

>"p-people with high IQs d-don't exist"
I know for a fact the paper (they give you paper with your score on the two different scales, and your overall score, along with some comments) is still at my parents' home. I could post it but then people would just say it's fake.
I guess people taller than 6'5" aren't real either right. 7" dicks? not a real thing.
COPE
btw if you want to feel even worse, my dick is 7.75x6 but I guess that doesn't exist either. I am a manlet though.

So why are you posting on a Himalayan Salt Gathering board rather than becoming a rocket surgeon?

And this is relevant to this thread for book recommendations on a Ugandan pottery making board how?

Just recommend a book.

he'll probably recommend you his stats textbook or something

most people who are really smart take IQ tests when it becomes apparent i.e pretty damn early. what's your point.
then he either lied or didn't try. takes very little to make a brainlet think, I see. books might just be the right thing for you.
>"y-you're not smart. i-i'll make more than you"
brainlet logic at its best. these people cannot comprehend the joy of studying and truly understanding the one true science. makes me euphoric desu.

Thanks for the nostalgia trip, brings me back. Whenever someone would claim to be the smartest in the class, I would enjoy pointing out my higher test scores, every single time. Maybe I had some courses with you and I ended up shattering your fragile ego. I'm sorry

kek. you're the one who started projecting and bringing IQ into it mane. also I don't go to class, don't need it, not a brainlet.

Awfully defensive there, champ

The same reason why all hung guys don't do porn, and I'm not a hand model despite having pretty hands. I don't want to? also shitposting aside, there are a lot of things I couldn't do. Being a rocket scientist or a surgeon probably isn't very demanding, so I could do that (so could everyone t b h, especially surgeon) but 142IQ isn't that high despite what you brainlets think so when I say I could do anything I'm aware I couldn't. I'm not your god, only a man.

>s-school is for brainlets, I'm t-too brilliant for that
Sure is Dunning-Krueger up in here...

I only go (well, went) to tests. Didn't seem to be a problem. tbf I'm only going because I have a scholarship and it allows me to live a comfy life, don't wanna lose that.

camus was an ex-soccer player who screwed many a hottie in his abruptly ended life.

quite the modern renaissance man imo

>being that proud for good ability of recognizing patterns
lol

Not lifting related, but read JACK LONDON. It'll put hair on your dick. 'The Jacket', 'Before Adam', and 'The Sea-Wolf'. Get 'em all from libgen.

>literally tested 142 IQ tho. granted that was when I was 6yo

IQ tests in youth are designed to provide a vague POTENTIAL adulthood score.

Your potential may have been 142, but forgoing hours per week of reading (with skills learnt from it such as comprehension, critical thinking, memorization) may have stunted your potential.

Is there any guide on getting started reading ancient greece and ancient rome literature?
really admire those men and culture

Yes, but don't read the criticism.

>I I I I I
Anonymity is that hard on your ego?

Reading is for fags

>then Schopenhauer, skip Nietzsche, realize Schopenhauer had found the solution in Eastern Philosophy. And then read Husserl instead. Maybe some Heidegger. If you reach Hegel, you've gone too far. If you hit Zizek, abort mission and cleanse yourself with some Russell.

thanks

why?
